Matt Willis, Mohamed Massaquoi and Mike Thomas are among the free agents at Dolphins camp for a Tuesday tryout, according to a league source.
Massaquoi is probably the most familiar name of the group. The former second-round pick started 43 games in the last four years, averaging 14.8 yards per catch.
Willis, 29, has 30 career catches in five NFL seasons, most recently with the Broncos.
Thomas, however, might be the best slot receiver available. The 5-8 former Jaguar averaged 53 catches his first three seasons in football.

Can Massaquoi play in the slot? I'd figure they'd look at somebody like Julius Pruitt again, he's good on ST and knows the system.
-
Man, if we could Kenny Britt for anything less than a 5th we need to pounce, like a tiger on a gazelle!
-
I am pretty sure they intend to. They do need somebody to back him up and if active play ST though, that can play the slot as well is prolly a huge plus.

What's the story on Massaquoi? He started 43 games for Cleveland, catching 118 passes for 1,745 yards and seven touchdowns.
Goes to the Jags and what happened? -

Kinda sucks that we lose Tyms and Mcnutt off the PS. and then our thin WR corps takes a major ding.

IMO whomever they eventually sign should be a backup to Mathews who deserves and needs more touches IMO.I think he has the talent to take over the slot position permanently.

I'd rather take a chance on another team's practice squad WR instead of one of those retreads trying out.Jagfish likes this. -

However, some guys I would take a look at include Devon Wylie and Chad Bumphis. -
Yep. I was about to say Chad Bumphis can be signed off the Broncos PS, and he was our best receiver in training camp.

Bumphis was able to run routes and find areas in the zone. I am still surprised he is not on an active roster. -
