No wonder Martin was a giant turd out there, defenders could easily get in his head. Not surprising the effort was made to accustom him to such verbal abuse. Talk about backfiring though. Best wishes Rich, hopefully we're not stuck with this sackless loser. Have I ever told you guys how much your differences make you inferior to me, and how inevitable it is that I will slap all your mothers across the face ? Because I can't say that enough.
If Martin wants to keep playing football, his only chance would be in Indy because Andrew Luck will vouch for him from their Stanford days. And what he says is all that matters.
Add guys on twitter that play with him now, or used to and everyones defending Richie....this smells like ****....a big pile of ****.
Lol, I say some fu&$ed up things to my good friends.. One time, my good friend told me "thankyou".... I told him don't ever fu&$ing say that again you blankety blank blank blank, or I'll stick a hot needle down your blank..
you can really see a lot of that humor on this board. At one point I had people I never even talked to on here making jokes about me being mexican. Its kind of funny now that I think about it.
Some of the things I've said to friends would get me arrested if said to anyone outside that group. And vice-versa with things they say to me.
Not excusing what was..but you know what. Your a grown man..getting paid millions..to play a fn game. MAN THE FRUCK UP. PUT YOUR FOOT IN HIS ***. Dont go cry to mommy and daddy..big fng baby Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Press conference over. More details than I thought he'd share. Shared pretty much an exact timeline. Said there was an incident in the cafeteria before practice, Martin was excused from practice. Philbin asked to meet with him that night. They did, and they had a discussion about what he was going through. As a result of that meeting Martin left the team. Philbin stayed in touch with Martin and his parents all that week. He said on Sunday the team released a statement that was "factually true" about not being aware of any allegations of player misconduct. He said that at no point during any of his discussions with Martin or his family did anyone allege misconduct from any of the other players. But after they released their statement, representatives of Martin sent allegations of player misconduct at which point he began an immediate review and as a result of that review he suspended Incognito that night. Simultaneously Steve Ross asked Roger Goodell to get involved and have the NFL conduct a thorough review of the workplace environment. He was pretty explicit...at no point did Martin allege any misconduct until he got that allegation Sunday after their press release. That was the first time Martin said anything. I believe he denied that Martin came to him about the issue back in the spring.
If Martin goes down as a goat among Dolphin fans what does that say about Dolphin fans? He is not a goat in my mind. I guess he would be a goat to all of you who don't believe in adult bully behavior.
A lot of side-stepping by Philbin. Said his part but did not answer any meaty questions. To be continued.
I hope Incognito is not released... why release him now before the full investigation is done? Suspending him though is the right course of action until then.
The general attitude on this board about bully behavior bothers me. Some of you appear to go as far as to say that if a kid doesn't fight back he should be bullied. I hope that is not the general perception. And that attitude carries over to adult bully behavior in the workplace. I swear, what planet are some of you on. Self-employment planet, or harmony planet where you don't experience abuse of power.
He is a goat if this bully behavior is only being mentioned in order to collect paychecks. From the information available, it seems like bullying only became an "issue" once he was placed on NFI list.
Jesus..... Give me a break. Will the human gene map be devoid of a spine in the next few generations? It might as well with the mentality that is developing.
Jesus so Martin is a flip flopper.....he is like my daughter at the coffee shop while I get a coffee "Mira you want anything?" "No" "You sure?" "Yup" walk to the car.... "Daddy I could have eaten a cream cheese bagel".......
Did anyone else have the feeling that Philbin was not happy about Martins' family? Maybe I just think so because of what I believe. IMO it was a good press conference and he said all the right things.
This will filter down and give a huge wake up call to the "player" culture of the NFL. We live in a different age now regarding political correctness and attitudes. It was already there at the Corporate level. It's a huge business regarding advertisement and image. The bottom of the heap for this to filter down to is the actual players. These are the guys who learn from veteran players and "tradition". What we are witnessing right now has huge impercussions and changing of the guard. Seriously.
Of course he isn't and he shouldn't be either!! He gets their word that nothing happened, makes a statement about nothing happening and THEN said something happened!?!? This is real life **** here Martin and family, stop using the system to your own benefit...
I literally heard **** twice as bad as what Cogs said while pledging my fraternity. And we weren't even known to be that tough of hazers, so I'm sure other pledges had it a lot worse. Martin couldn't take hazing from the football team I guess. I'm sure the reason nobody blinked an eye was because the stuff that happened to Martin was basically the same stuff every other rookie had to go through. Wouldn't be surprised if Dallas Thomas got basically the same voicemail Martin got before training camp started.
Jon Martin will someday look back at this and probably be more depressed than ever, he is his own worst enemy here. Richie will regret his immature nature, but truth is he's just a dirty mouth jersey boy that got under big weirdo's skin. Philbin having to deal with his mommy and daddy, you could see Joe made a point to get that out there.
Getting paid millions is a ticket to a bully free life? And taking things into your own physical hands is also a solution. You know I might do that, but I am not saying that would work for Martin. I am guessing you have never been bullied and have no clue to that "kind" of environment.
Philbin was pretty passionate there. Shared more than I thought he would and said the right things. He didn't answer any questions straight up but I didn't expect him too.
I don't think there will be any ripple effect here. I think Richie Incognito is going to be fired at the stake because of those text messages and voicemails. Those are the smoking gun. Those are the things that are too awkward to explain no matter WHAT the context was. Other players will think twice before engaging in the same kind of trackable behavior. Hazing will not stop. Rookie dinners will not stop. Being taped to the goal post will not stop. Carrying pads will not stop. Pranks will not stop. Players will feel confident that 99.99% of the NFL is not made up of Jonathan Martins.
Aye, I'm a member of the media, and so probably I've got a hidden agenda I'm not even aware of, but every time someone uses a phrase such as "factually true" I wince a bit and know I'm being lied to.
And that mentality is that it is all Martin's fault he is the target for a bully like Incognito. Because he has no spine. Because he is weak. Maybe because if you knew that about him you would be willing to "toughen" him up. No, you give me a break.
Martin isn't receptionist at some corporate office. These are not the qualities of someone we want protecting our franchise against people looking to do him harm. Pouncey and Cogs are in the same battle trying to keep Tannehill upright. They took it upon themselves to toughen Martin up. It didn't work.
I disagree CK. Maybe players will be confident 99.9% NFL isn't made up of Jonathan Martins but its the owners that have to notice and be aware of the implications having a type of player in their team and what happens on an everyday basis. It's all about image. NFL has gone International. NFL and the corporate money ppl will be looking at this mess and will be on Defcom 1 that it's a one off. Its bad publicity.
If that is the reason I am sure we will hear about it. If it is cya behavior then I am sure we will hear about it. I don't have a problem with his label if he did this with equal intention to hurt others. That is not justified any more than the original bully behavior. However, I want to see the facts that bear that out. One thing is becoming more certain by the day. I doubt either one of them will be playing for the Dolphins.
Are those 100% verifiable? Are they malicious or screwing around......I got many friends of all races, and we throw the racial slurs at each other all the time...It is part of being in a mostly male job, alpha male job at that... From the outside one would think we are serious, but it is joking around....I can see the samething happening here almost...
If there's any evidence that Joe Philbin knew of the allegations before the story broke, he'll get suspended by the league. I'm not saying there is, but keep in mind that Sean Payton initially said all the right things about bounty gate, too. This story is far from over.
A lot of bullying going on around the Dolphins. Incognito allegedly bullies Martin. Then... Martin's parents bully Martin into creating this cluster****... NFL and Media bully the Dolphins into releasing Incognito... Upcoming I predict... Media bullies NFL into sanctioning and fining the Dolphins.... Ross bullies Philbin into falling on his sword.
