Or an indictment on the Gm....Bomani jones attributes it to ireland, who infamously inquired to a prospect's family members criminal history. Not his fault dez's mom was a known prostitute ! Tim Hasselbeck was questioning Tannehills leadership too. We're talking about a voicemail here.
exactly. It reminds me of how people sit at home on their asses watching tv and have the balls to call someone a ***** or ***** or whatever. Real easy to say when you aren't the one out there taking the hits.
I think Philbin's remarks stated that he didn't know til Sunday, and then suspended Incognito a couple days later. It seems as if the players on the team didn't see anything wrong either.
How about this. He knew Cogs and Pouncey were trying to help him. The language was crude, yes. But we don't know if Martin objected to any of it. Martin probably knew he was soft. Martin knew Pouncey and Cogs, the two leaders on that line, were trying to make him better.
Frankly if all this is true and as appears, get Incogidiot off my team ASAP please. Any decent OL is a "band of brothers" and MUST function as a "unit". Garner can fill in nicely until we draft a replacement. I can't see him go fast enough. Talk about a cancer on the OL!!!! Ireland and Philbin better cut his bully-*** today!
If we got over Manatee Wright and Juan Huron and Zach Thomas the safety and fist pumping, I think we'll get over this.
Lol at the "stoopid" 3 of my nieces are half mexican and they say it like that when trying to be silly with their pops. So I read your post in a 7 year old girls voice. Probably pretty close to your real voice too.
It's pretty natural to run to the people you know are going to love you regardless when someone makes you feel utterly worthless. If (note the "if") someone made you feel like crap and you didn't run home "to mommy and daddy", I'd bet a decent sum on you having a pretty ****ty relationship with mommy or daddy. It's what people do. Not a very grown up thing by any testosterone standards, but a pretty common one by stuff that actually happens standards.
I think ur making a large assumption that we havent been on the recieving end of a bully. I did in high school. Every time i went into the locker room I had to deal with his crap. But..i never did anything about it..cuz i didnt want to get in trouble. One day I was bummed out and my dad asked what was wrong..so I told him. He told me youll never be in trouble at home for sticking up for your self. Next time that dude messed with me...didnt even think about it..just drove him right in the nose.. End of bullying Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
We all know what happened to that council.Total ship out, even Bess...Bess! says it all. The middle man got taken out. Not ideal imo. Headscratcher.
No..going to your parents for support is one thing. Going back to them to take care of your problems when your an adult is another Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
So how do you view Martin than ? Do his actions make you confident he fits your mold as a lineman ? How does a nasty voicemail transcript hold more weight than quitting on your team, hiding behind your parents while a friends career is dismantled ? I wouldn't want to be on your team dude. This probably wasn't even about richie until mom and dad got hold of the info and found ammunition they could use against the franchise. Why else would richie be trying to get name cleared before that transcript was released? His part in this was designed to benefit the quitter. Rich is taking the fall here.
Ha! My point being, though, that people generally don't behave rationally about stuff like that but at the same time expect other people to do. The whole "why would he do that if the other guy did that" argument usually evaporates when reality comes into play.
Wow...what a mess. This, unfortunately, is exactly what we DIDN'T need... However...being the glass half full kinda dude I am...I see this as an opportunity for the team to persevere through adversity and a really, REALLY crappy situation. This coaching staff has been hand-fed an opportunity to prove they have the moxie to hold this team together through the roughest of situations. This O-line has already been horrible...now this? Man... Drop your c***s and grab your socks coaches...gonna be painful...make it work! I was the first guy to say I thought Martin was going to be at least an average LT, because I have a lot of faith in what somebody can do through some very serious hard work and drive toward a goal...have seen it plenty, but it looks like it didn't happen on this one. Can we please fire our O-line scouting team? Please? This offseason is going to be turbulent... EDIT: Should the NFL "find" the Dolphins coaching staff was complicit in ANY way, we'll have high draft picks for a while.
no I'm making the HUGE assumption that you aren't John Martin. Nor do we know if there is more or less to the story.
I agree. I don't agree, however, that one is common (or even proper) procedure and the other is being childish. If that was the case, most people would be rather childish indeed. Running home to mommy and daddy when you've got no other safety net (aka a family of your own) is what people do. It's instinct. Doing that doesn't make Martin a puss. It makes him human.
That reminds me, when I was a sophomore one of the other sophomores kept on picking on me. One day he was messing with me so I hit him with the tackling dummy I was carrying. He got mad, hit me in the back of the helmet, however after that, he no longer messed with me.
This whole ordeal keeps reminding me of this movie scene, for some reason...
So you needed daddy to tell you what to do when you weren't much younger than Jonathan Martin is. Man, you've been a puss until you ran home to him
No. but he should be able to address it in some form or another, even if that means letting his superiors know. in this case his coach or a member of the coaching staff. you don't say no no no it's all good it's not you guys, don't believe all you read then drop a bomb shell on everyone. i don't think one person on this board condones bullying at any level. what you are seeing is the reaction to how Martin is handling this as well as all the different perceptions based on what little evidence has been leaked.
Well..judging by the fact that hes a 350 pound NFl player...and Im a 185 pound hazmat tech..Id agree...huge assumption Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Yep, he's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. This only adds to some other things that may have gone on behind the scenes that have contributed to the players losing some respect for him.
Huh..I was 13. And yeh..I needed to hear I wouldnt get my *** whipped if I got in trouble for punching the dude. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
There's a difference between being bullied, and being called names.... Incognito called Martin names, in a masculin, friendly, sort of way. Media making it out to be waaaaaay more than it is, don't get hooked.
Yep. Nothing says masculine like threating to **** down someone's throat. That doesn't come across as deviant all. Perfectly normal and rational behavior.
I wasn't aware that high school started at 13. That said, it still goes towards my point, especially in a sport where a lot of "grown ups" are evidently at an emotional development point that sees them in their teens.
Its also not bullying to alot of people. Its a way of measuring you. How are you gonna handle your sh.t when it gets hard. Martins been around this his whole life...theres more to this then Incognito.. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Me and my friends say degrading things like that to each other all the time, it's sort of a game to see which one can go further. I think the real issue here is that Richie said half-******, and as a white boy, you have to know how that is going to be perceived in the media.
Incognito is going to have to go, not for the supposed 'bullying' but because of the language he used doing it. You can't say what he said to someone you work with; regardless of whatever relationship you think you have with them in terms of friendship or 'toughening up' especially if they don't see it the same way, its simply not acceptable. You cant racially abuse someone under the guise of supposedly trying to help them. To everyone that's attempting to trivialise this because they like Richie or they see this as some kind of anti tough guy propaganda by the media, try and see how it looks. Someone you work with is constantly harassing you, making fun of you, calling you at home and calling you racial slurs, you'd probably think you were due some support from the organisation you worked for rather than attempting to fight them and potentially jeopardise your own career. True Martin obviously has issues beyond whatever went on between him and Incognito but it does look like Richie went too far and that this wasn't dealt with in the best way from the Dolphins organisation.
I'm not sure why I'm "Mr Snarky Tone Man". I genuinely didn't know if there weren't places that had you starting high school at 13. I'm not a US citizen, after all.
