hmm, which means Maning or Flynn is probably more attractive then shedding high draft picks for RG3.

I simply think it is a matter of not enough firepower to attain the pick....without screwing themselves high round picks for years....
Because of the new CBA, teams know EXACTLY what they have to spend money wise on any draft pick in the 1st round...this was a problem under the old CBA, especially when it came to trading into the Top 10 and 5.....
I think you are going to see more movement than in previous years because now it is just a matter of getting the right trade down pick wise, knowing what you have to spend on it will just be an inncentive for teams to pull the trigger on some of these trades... -
Why would the Browns be reluctant to part ways with their later 1st round pick? If it means grabbing a franchise QB, it's a no-brainer.

And, reality is, Holmgren may not love RG3's potential. -
I really don't think Jeff Ireland is as high on Robert Griffin as everyone else is.

I think we might be underestimating Tannehill's desirability as a first round talent. Jake Locker went 8th overall and I don't think he showed as much quarterbacking promise as Tannehill.

1. Sign Matt Flynn
1A. Sign Peyton Manning
3. Draft Tannehill and deal with Moore for a season or 2.
4. Blow our load to move up for RG3.Uncle Rico likes this. -
As well it should be. We need our picks. There is no sense risking strengthening the core of the team for someone with no guarantee that he will excel at the next level. I'd rather trade down than up. We need to think long term as far as the core strength of the team and doing what we can to acquire more picks. I think we can trade down and grab another pick or two. I'm all for that. We can't throw a bounty to move up to take Griffin. I'd be all for it for Luck. But not so much with Griffin. Luck has been consistently great throughout his college career. Griffin had a great season. Don't get me wrong Griffin's maturity and intelligence is very impressive. But would it be smart to give up a slew of draft picks to get him. I don't think so. -

Honestly, I think all three options have their merrits. I think Manning would be an instant solution for a couple years while giving us setup time for the future (i.e. Tannehill, Osweiller, Weeden, Foles).
If Philbin believes in Flynn then I have zero qualms with paying for him, you have to trust the opinion of a coach that has been in the same meeting room/practice field as a player for 3+ years.
I think RGIII has rare talent and could be one of those players in the NFL that can surpass the game. I would be happy with all three of those options, thought I think I would lean towards Manning/Flynn due to being able to save all our draft picks.
I've watched quite a bit of Tannehill and he left me fairly unimpressed, though I wouldnt be surprised if he becomes a good NFL player in time..but definitely not someone I would be comfortable throwing the reigns to immediatly. -
I'm good with anyone except Tannenhill or Flynn. So pretty much Manning, Moore or RGIII wouldn't bother me. Tannenhill scares me. I think he needs an Aaron Rodgers type bench stint to succeed at this level.

Why would we want to repeat the mistake Tenn made?? Get Manning and Cousins....Or Weeden. Love that guy

good news if its not for luck, stay put

I'll qualify this by saying RGIII would be my top choice even if you have to give up a premium.
While I can believe the Dolphins might not want to give up what it would take to get RGIII, the writer's reasoning is ridiculous. The Dolphins aren't going after Griffen because Fisher went to the Rams? I certainly hope the Dolphins aren't that petty that they'd make important football decisions based on personal history, and I seriously doubt they are. -
I am surprised Weeden has just fallen off most people's radars. Is it just because his age or is there something else I missed?
At this rate it seems like he'd be a 2nd round if not 3rd round pick. -

However Rodgers had a very long bench stint which helped him long term. He completely changed his college mechanics because he knew they would not work in the NFL. I think Tannenhill is one of those guys who will need that time to rework his game and just learn the position. -

I'm still so spoiled by Dan Marino. -
It s difficult at this point to determine what is fact or fiction. I would still think that RGIII is still on the radar, just not at the prohibitive cost its going to cost to move up and take him. Cleveland at this point would be foolish to acknowledge they would be willing to give up both of their 1st round picks when other teams are starting to hint they are unwilling to pay a high bounty to move up and take RGIII. If other teams show reluctance and Flynn and Manning go to other potential RGIII suiters Cleveland may be able to trade up for less than both of this years first round picks. I guess the main question right now is what might be considered a prohibitive cost and what is a reasonable offer.

Bro I wasn't disagreeing. But how many QBs, really, are an immediate impact overall. Most of them take time. -
The smart choices are Fynn or Tannehill. Flynn has four years in our offense and a coach who knows how to maximize his talents. Tannehill has a similar advantage. He's raw and will need a year, but his long term potential is through the roof. The people who question him tend to focus on stats, but true evaluators look at the skills and he has top 10 talent. Weedon is less desirable b/c of the age, but otherwise hes a great talent. The other options carry far more risk, cost and/or are simply bad fits.
