Yeah, I'm not either ATV ... all of this seems like pretty rampant speculation. Wouldn't be surprised if Parcells isn't trying to feel out the new owner, Ross. I really don't see him going anywhere, but if he does, we've got the foundation in place for success, and that's important.
I'm not buying it, either -- this guy has "the life" now in Florida (and doesn't even travel). I just cannot believe he would walk away from such an incredible turnaround. Coaches, EVPs, whoever, like to stick around and see the fruits of their labors. I can't imagine Parcells wouldn't witness the even greater things to come next season.
HaHa beat you http://forums.thephins.com/showpost.php?p=516834&postcount=48 I hope he doesn't leave personally, and stays for another 2 years.
Why is he doing this to us right before a playoff game? Nothing can come good about this...nothing.... it dont motivate us, if anything it really hurts our team chemistry...
Where there is smoke. After Saban, I will never dismiss these stories so quickly. And remember, Parcells already has that deserved rep for jumping ship.
Be hard for me to say that any better. Its not beyond Bill to seek reaction.. It would tickle me to see him play them some.
I know who Bill Parcells is and I've watched a few football games. Does that make me a source close to Bill?
Lol. He brings in the whole staff and Ireland, does his part and might want to go take on a bigger challenge and you dislike him? Oh boy.
of course he is going to say he would "consider" coaching again. the same way MANY coordinators who have no intention of coaching in Detriot or Cleveland, or for Al Davis will "consider' those head coaching jobs, and interview for it... all to ensure their deal with their current team gets extended and (financially) sweetened this offseason. could it happen? sure. nothing is impossible for the right money, but is the Tuna going to leave sunny south Florida for dismal Detroit? or cold Cleveland, or N.Y. where he has already been there/done that? sure, it's possible, but it is not likely.
I personally don't see that happening. And if it does, I'm confident in Ireland and the rest of the staff assembling a good core of coaches.
Does anyone really think Sparano and Ireland would go with him after the season we're having? Mind you, it's their first season.
And trust me - he has a nice house up here in Saratoga and loves to golf too much to want to leave it for coaching at this point in his life. I'm certain this is all a negotiation ploy for Ross. I mean, this is Tuna's MO!!
I mean Parcells taking Ireland and the staff, I don't see it happening either, but the fear of that might be running across some peoples minds.
That won't happen. I can't see Parcells taking Ireland and the staff. If was to try to, he might as well merge our franchise with the one he's headed to because he's basically robbed the whole organization.
This is bad on all levels We need our team focussed and so does Parcells For all the turnarounds he has done how many championships has he won He needs to understand that these situations don't always come around. We are in a 12 team tourney for a World Championship Hopefully Ross does not let anyone leave and follow him
Parcells can't take Ireland. But he could take Pasqualoni (HC), Lee (OC), Bowles (DC) and Brian Gaine (GM) if he particularly wanted. And based on what he did to the Cowboys' staff, I think he would want to - at least Gaine and possibly Pasqualoni - if he was indeed to leave.
Oh boy how can you not start to dislike him? He does this every place he goes and now these rumors are coming out about him having the ability to leave and wanting to coach again the week Miami plays its biggest game in almost a decade. He should not be doing this now. Add to that if he does leave he will take people with him.
He could very well take a few guys but what FreeStyle said was "the staff", I took that as a whole and I don't see that happening.
It would definitely be bad - nobody wants Tuna to leave for at least one more season. That said, as long as Tony and Ireland stay, I won't be THAT worried. They seem to have learned how to win in this league. Still, I'd love for them to have at least another year to mentor from Tuna before going out on their own.
Because it doesn't surprise me. He does this every place he goes and frankly, he doesn't have much to do here anymore. He put together the staff and the upper management. He can now go sit on his couch and knock bud lights back. I personally don't see this as a big impact on the playoff game. The players aren't playing for him, they're playing for Tony Sparano. They know not to let the distractions get to them, Sparano will make that clear.
I don't want Parcells taking anyone away from us. Not too, mention if Parcells does leave, will we be aggresive in FA like last season, when we started signing guys 1 minute after FA started??
Sorry for calling you out on this, man, but the point of this whole little drama is that none of this would've come up if Parcells didn't want it to. Neither Mort nor King would've dared to bring this up (the others are just running along with it basically) if Parcells hadn't asked them to. So there's definitely fire behind that particular smoke and the guy to blame, frankly, is the Tuna.
My crystal ball tells me that Parcells stays. This is a 3 year operation he signed up for in Miami. His goal when he takes over a team is not to make the playoffs. It's to build a championship team. After 4 years, he turns his attention elsewhere. He didn't leave Dallas after they started 10-6 and made the playoffs in his first season. I have all the confidence in the world in Tony Sparano, but I think Sparano draws a lot of confidence from Bill Parcells. It would be nice to have them stick together for a few more seasons. Ireland probably prefers having a co-gm when debating prospects as well. Please stay Parcells. But if you go, please don't go to the Jets.
We definitely will. If Parcells decides to leave, it'll only be because he figures he is no longer needed here. That's what he's after basically. A challenge and being needed. Being the big Tuna. As soon as he knows they are perfectly capable of being successful without him, he's out. So should Parcells leave, rest assured he will be confident that we won't need him. He'd never risk his legacy otherwise.
I'm sure it doesn't surprise anyone he wants to leave but I do think it is surprising he is willing to leave after just one season being here. We can agree to disagree here but to say these rumors won't distract the team at all during the week I think is false.
I simply don't understand why its a surprise. He came to a team that looked like it was a two year project at best and got them going in the right direction in one season. We do have some holes but what team doesn't? He has nothing else left to do here in my opinion and I would have no problem with him considering a different team. Hey, they might distract the team a little but I think that is blown way out of proportion. Sparano has them focused, ready to work and I don't see it being a big distraction, if any. Remember the FA hits?
When it comes to Parcells you should believe it considering his history. Mortensen who is Parcells buddy broke the story who I'm sure was asked to do so by Parcells himself. Your naive not to believe a story like this when it comes to the Big Tuna.
Would not surprise me at all, Parcell he's done this several times already. Personally I don't care if he decide to go, whats bother me is that he will take Pasqualoni and Henning and possibly more with him, to implement he's program. I want to believe that hes doing this to get a better deal from Ross, since I don't think that Parcell still have the desire or the energy to work 20 hours a day coaching, not at 67 years old!
I don't think he's doing this for a better deal. He's doing it to see Ross' reaction and gauge if he's the kind of owner he wants to work with - one that's willing to accept that Bill's the boss. Essentially, this is a pissing contest.
