New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, whose contract expires after this season, has been offered a three-year, $58 million extension, the Boston Herald reported Tuesday morning, citing sources close to the negotiations.
The newspaper said the deal with Brady is "imminent" and could be reached by Wednesday morning. It would be added to the end of his current contract, which will pay him $6.5 million this season, bringing his four-year compensation to $64.5 million.
WEEI-AM, which features weekly interviews with Brady, cited sources in reporting that "tremendous progress" has been made in negotiations and the deal is close to completion. Brady is scheduled to appear on the radio station at 6:30 a.m. ET Wednesday.
When asked about the reports, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said, "I don't have anything to report on any contracts," according to The Boston Globe.
