http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5538132 Have to admit, Rex Ryan gets things done.
I'm telling you the only reason it took this long is because the Jets wanted the drama and attention, especially for Hard Knocks. Revis has his position on lockdown, they didn't need to see him play in pre season, so they let this go on until literally the last minute before the first week of NFL week 1 begins.[Monday aka right now]. They really love the drama.
"But Revis missed an entire month with the team in preseason" "But nobody can tackle Brandon Marshall" === unrelated === "What did you expect from a QB in his second year?" "We still got to the AFC Championship game last year. Can you say that?" "But Faneca is gone"
Exactly what I was going to say. Its obvious to me this deal was probably done a while ago, they just dragged it on for the media attention, for hard knocks. No need for revis to play all preseason, why risk injury? No doubt in my mind thats whats gone on. Really, I can't blame them.
Taking that a step further, I believe they're gonna decide to get rolled by the Miami Dolphins week 3 for dramatic effect as well. No Hard Knocks, just for the sake of drama.
The reports were that Revis had been offered a $12 mil/per contract and had declined it b/c he wanted to be paid more per year than Nnamdi. This contract seems to be $11.5 mil/per. It has a higher total and higher guaranteed money than Nnamdi got, but it also has more years. It sounds to me that either Revis caved on his demands or it was orchestrated as some are claiming.
No, the Best-two-shut-down-corners-in-the-nfl clause is there. (BTW: If you knew better, you would know that he rarely had help over the top. The other side was sieve. Check out the post by Football Outsiders). BZ
ROTFLMAO!!!! And just last year Jet fans were laughing at Cro....now he's one of the best shutdown corners. Gotta love Jets nation.
I knew this would end like this. It was only a matter of time. Jets had Revis against the wall, and Revis knew that no one was crazy enough to give him a $100 million contract. So, matter as well, make an agreement with the Jets.
That's what should worry Jet's fans (aside from the fact that they're Jet's fans, of course). It seems to me that players who hold out all training camp and then play have a higher incidence of injuries during those first few games. I would guess it's b/c it takes a bit for the body to work up to taking that level of contact again.
Rumor has it he's already hurt himself. Got trampled by a herd of Cromartie's kids ...but seriously though, something about him icing his leg the entire practice or something.
