Rex Ryan self proclaiming that he is a GREAT coach.

LOL. This guy is unreal. I don't need credit, but let me give myself some anyway.

He's just letting teams know that after he gets fired, he's good to go on to a new team. Classless fatass bastard.

He's a good defensive strategist. He is a horrible coach. To be a good coach you need to be a good strategist, but also you need to be a good leader, teacher & manager. He is like his father, merely a good strategist.

Ryan has been put in a pretty bad situation. They mortgaged their future to load up on average players, so they could sell their moron fans overpriced PSLs. The teams he took to the playoffs didn't have great talent, and the past two years he's had probably the worst talent in the league. The only redeeming player the Jets have had has been Revis. -
Didn't he pick his QB?
Didn't he pick most of his core players?
Yet, TS won a division with a Irish picking the players. -
Coaching isn't only about performance. Look at how the players were anonymously throwing each other under the bus last season, look at his demeanor in the media, or his inability to control his team over the last few years. He just isn't a good HC in my opinion. Maybe a great DC, but not HC. In time, player's coaches get taken advantage of, and that what I think you are seeing in the latter half of his tenure.

Oh Rexy, I love you! When are you going to learn that he who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted?
-
Rex didn't develop any talent. Rex didn't keep control of the locker room. Rex didn't even really try to do anything with his offense or QB. Rex caused more PR headaches than a lot the players he had, which is saying quite a bit. I'd take him as an DC at most, but he's not my first choice. -
Plus didn't he make a few comments this offseason about wanting to be fired?
-
I love to hate this guy. He is the perfect Jet head coach. I hope he finds a way to stay there in 2014.

Do they still have the same ST Coach, our fmr ST coordinator?
I'd heard he was retiring. -
-
So many great coordinators go on to fail as Head coaches because they can't handle the diversity of the job.
A good example is Wade Phillips, horrible head coach in Dallas...gets fired....goes back to being a DC in Houston and turns them into a top teir defense basically overnight. Norv Turner?? A mess of a HC but watch how much better he makes Cleveland's offense.
I'm sure Rex will go somewhere next year and help someone's team tremendously, but it sure as hell won't be as a HC.steveincolorado likes this. -

Compare the Jest situation at Wr to ours, it was similar, we traded for Marshall, they traded for Holmes.
BUT, Bess also developed here, as did Hartline, they have developed..no one.
To double down on that, they are now looking at Kellen Winslow.
This was the core problem for Ryan, he's used to working w/Vets who know what they need to do and what their job is, no teaching required. Now pretty much everyone on offense is gone who was good, the whiffed on Shonn Greene.
I like Pierre Thomas's game but it's more of "Jest gonna Jest", in a salary cap league you have to develop your own talent.Tone_E likes this. -
They stuck with Tannenbaum for a long time, the GM won't feel the heat to can him unless they just crater, but irrc they did lose their DefCord as well, meaning two of the areas they had success ST and DC..are now changed over, that can work out badly. -
Well see if Rex keeps his job after this season. After two poor seasons, 2013 maybe a bad season for them, I can see the GM bringing in his own guys. I just don't believe Rex will be a Jet after this season.
But it's only my opinion. -
I give Rexxy credit for this as well:
He "gets" how to beat New England, you have to not only change things up, you also have to be more aggressive and just hit them harder then they hit you.
Problem is, his Vet talent is now so diluted it will no longer work. -
He's his dad revisited except he won some playoff games.
-
He has some good young vets and rookies now too though. Wilkerson, Ellis and Richardson should be a good DL. Coples has ability. They still have David Harris. Milliner should be fine replacing Revis. -
I know he loves his FB Conner.
