Jeez, Richie's nothing like I pictured him. Based on his rep I was envisioning someone more like this: http://lobshots.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/nerds.jpg
I know Deej, he has been really quiet, the last couple of kickers have put it in the EZ for touchbacks. He's only tried to return 6 kicks so far, not a lot to work with, and Armstrong's ST unit is normally elite
That is the thing, he needs more opportunities, I based 2k APY on Thigpen also having a role in the offense and that has not happened.
I know he will be 31 by the start of next season....but I still want him re-signed for 2-3 years. We've got enough to overhaul with the right side and get Pouncey re-signed that I'd like to see some stability there.
Agreed, Richie definitely has worked for the extension and hes towed the company line for it. Hes definitely changed as a person. I remember when we signed him even other posters that are well respected did not want him here because of his attitude. I disagreed with him because at the time we were terrible and I felt talent may be more of a deciding factor but now no one would disagree that he was worth the shot in the dark we took on him. He couldnt even stick on that bad Bills team or a terrible Rams team.
Ah, thing is, a good team has warrior types, guys who are nasty, who will go all in, who will flip off opposing fans. This is one place the league runs off the rails due to accountants posing as football people make $$$ decisions over team culture decisions. To me, the heart of the great patsies teams was Bruschi, he had a stroke, came back to play. This is one of my issues with Ireland/Aponte, they do not understand you need totally dedicated madmen who have proven themselves on the field to build team culture around toughness, unselfishness, and balls to the wall play. Dallas Thomas...not so much, yet suspect he is the guy who Ireland/Aponte plan to replace Rotten Richie with.
I saw him at a bar/resto in Manhattan Beach and bought him a drink. It was 4th of July weekend. He wasn't drinking beer though. He was drinking something called the Ivan Drago. Lol.
An "If he dies, he dies" drink. The man is even dangerous with refreshments. Did you talk any football?
Can I start attributing Incognitio's transformation from dirt bag to good boy with a mean streak to Philbin and his staff?
Classic! He stoically explains teammates have seen his growth, his improvement, hard work ethic, coaches are pleased, yet not a word on the point about his recognition as a dirty player. That nasty demeaner has served him, and arguably the team, well over the years, and while he's definitely polished his public demeanor, with reserved composure and a knack for engaging diatribe, its clear he loves his villainous notoriety, always has, always will, and never will hear him state otherwise.
He's a pro bowler for as reason. Sure, a lot of guys in front of him passed, but he was there. I hope we sign him to a longer deal. Our OL needs continuity.
Ya, looks like he was well prepared and putting together some tape to show ESPN or NFLN after he retires. He did a very good job, and cleans up well. He just needs to get used to the bright lights, and stop blinking so much lol.
Personally I hope we re-sign him. I think he fits the scheme better than most think and is a great locker room/team guy. I see more benefit in having continuity on the left side of the line (Pouncey, Cogs, Martin) going forward than I see in trying to make changes there and get the right side right.
The only problem with that is he's likely to kill Evans on air if Evans says something stupid....oh, that could be ugly... Maybe team him with someone else....hehehe
Based on the Darlington story, it would seem Richie himself is responsible with Ricky Williams of all people playing a supporting role.
His name being synanamous with dirty makes it even more meaningful that his peers voted him to the probowl.. I think he's a must resign..based on the tape #1 and his leadership and demeanor 2nd.
Yes, we remember... http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...Time!-(OTAs)&p=2082350&viewfull=1#post2082350
