LOL....That is good ole Ricky.
of course...when the gun sounds...it is on like Donkey Kong.

I think he really liked splitting carries with his best bud Ronnie. It's not like he was a young backup waiting for his chance to start. He was in the exact position that he wanted.

Does anyone else feel conflicted with how much they hated Ricky when he quit on the team but how much they love him for all of his pre- and post-retirement play? It's like I can't stay mad at him.

You can't go by what Ricky says to gauge how well he will produce. He's a pretty humble guy who never talks himself up. He lets his play do the talking. Right now, his play is talking pretty loud.
105 carries (26th)
558 yards (14th)
5.3 ypc (3rd, minimum 100 attempts)
7 TDs (10th)
Only Chris Johnson (6.4) and Rashard Mendenhall (5.4) average more ypc than Ricky (minimum 100 carries). The Aqua Crush, dolfan7171, 2k5 and 1 other person like this. -

Ricky has avoided talking to the media the entire year. So this does not surprise me one bit.
I expect him to be very good on Thursday Night.
He and Ronnie have become very very good friends so It might also have a little to do with that.dolfan7171 and jetssuck like this. -

I was all over Ricky for walking out on the team.
All is forgiven now! He is running well, but most of all, he seems to have his life back on track.dolfan7171 and jetssuck like this. -

Plus, he's a really interesting dude. He's the only guy on the team I'd like to hang out with (irrespective of his propensity for the weed). -

never hated Ricky, always felt bad for him. (without ever having talked to him) I think he is enjoying playing with Ronnie. I also believe Ronnie has allowed Ricky to stay out of the lime light, get enough carries to be a contributer to the team AND has kept him fresh.
Can Ricky carry the load? In the short term I have "No" doubt about it. For the team, I hope Ronnie is back soon... like Buffalo soon....dolfan7171 likes this. -
I dont think this is a big idea. Its just typical, humble Ricky Williams. You'll see, and Carolina will feel his excitement on Thursday

There was a story I read last year I think it was, and it basically was about how Ricky was REALLY happy with the situation being the second back, getting a lighter load, and still being able to play.
It went on to say that he loves the game, but knows that he couldn't produce as the feature back for an entire season. This setup we had him in gave him the best of both worlds. He got enough snaps in to really tear up the field and have fun, and limited snaps so that he doesn't burn out the gas he's got left in the tank.
I think he'll be fine to run as our prime back for this game, and even the next if it comes down to it. But I wouldn't want him running the rest of the year. I think he knows where his limits are, and he has gotten that through to the staff pretty well.dolfan7171 and jetssuck like this. -
I'll be surprised if Ricky carries it more than 15 times vs Carolina... expect:
Ricky 10 to 15 carries
Lex 5 to 8 carries
White 3 to 5 carries
Polite 3 to 5 carriesdolfan7171 and siciliansith like this. -
1) As has been pointed out, Ricky has always been low-key. He's just not excitable.
2) He has grown up. Plain and simple. It doesn't seem possible in today's NFL, but it happens.alen1 and dolfan7171 like this. -

That's just who he is.

If Ricky was Rex Ryan:
"You know Of course I am ready to go. I am the superior running back, The carolina Panthers are just a Gimmick. Yummy that panthers LB looks appetizing can I eat him? Get in my belllyyyy!!!!"unluckyluciano, dolfan7171 and GISH like this. -
Unlike most RB tandems, ego's do not get in the way of the Ronnie-Ricky relationship.
Ricky has made it clear that this is his job and that he will do it to his best of his ability while it lasts. He is talented but not driven.
Ronnie is more passionate about his game but he is easy-going by nature.
Together they make the perfect RB tandem .They submit themselves to the desires of the team and coaches.
I am sure they will be lifelong friends after their playing days are gone and that is as it should be in a perfect world where fame is fleeting.Vengeful Odin and dolfan7171 like this. -

I just had a friend from Kentucky tell me that Ricky has been pretty much invisible this year.I blurted out his stats and he said he never would have thought that.Yes, he is humble but when his # is called he has always played hard.I see a good dose of RW and Henne having a very nice evening Thursday.GISH likes this. -
Then again, Carolina is 25th against the run in the NFL. Not as bad as the Bucs (31st), but still not all that good.Paul 13 likes this. -

Ronnie has averaged 16 1/3 carries per week.
Ricky has averaged 11 2/3 carries per week.
Combined 28 per week.
I doubt the coaching staff will give Lex the same work load as the #2 as they gave Ricky. I expect those 28 carries to get divided more towards Ricky. My guess is Ricky 20, Lex 8.keypusher likes this. -
You know I have no doubt that Ricky can carry the load on the field, but if Ricky had all the attention on him that Ronnie has had with this whole wildcat thing, I'm not sure that he would have been able to handle it. That is really the only thing that worries me about Ricky right now. How is he going to react with the microscope and the limelight pointing right at him?
I think he has grown and matured, but the fact of the matter is that the guy has an illness and hopefully this doesn't send Ricky back down a bad path. -
none of this should be surprising. Ricky doesn't want to be the starter. he doesn't want the carries. He's a phenomenal football player, but he doesn't love the game. Like he said, it's his job right now. If he could make 3.4 million doing something else, he would. Make no doubt about it, he'll run his *** off for us, but you know somewhere in the back of his mind is the image of Earl Campbell in a wheelchair. He will never forget that.
-
He just doesn't like to speak to a group of reporters. When you have social anxiety it's not exactly the best thing to have to speak to a group of people on the spot. Media-Leave Ricky alone!
Yeah he also doesn't want the large workload he had in 02/03, but he knows this is just temporary. -
I welcomed Ricky back right when he took out Mike Vrabel last year in New England.
-
Why is everyone talkin as if Ricky Williams is Paris Hilton or some delicate individual? He made a mistake and has grown from it. Everyone is making it seem as if we start to use Ricky more, he will revert back to his old ways and he cant handle it. He's a man and has changed, stop thinking he is so delicate and any small thing will force him to quit.
-
i can't wait to buy his book lol.
-
the man is by nature both humble & shy
He is the RealDeal, the Beast of the Second Half
a Once a Decade Phenomena, unlike Ronnie
he is a Franchise RB that can run Tandem
& has plenty rubber left to burn. I see no problem.
Run Ricky Run!:dolphin:
this may be the opportunity he needs to recharge his career -
He is a shy person its nothing new, he has never liked talking to the media and Omar is trying to spin this as "He isnt excited"
