First of all he didn't sound TOO crazy in that blog. Second of all, just had lunch with parcells last week? Parcells taking a real liking to the dude.

Im really surprised he's still here too. With his character issues im shocked he's here... thats a surprise because we didnt cut him for it, nor has he failed another test yet! All joking aside though, I think we've realized too that if healthy, ricky can still contribute to our running game, and with Ronnie's health still a little in question... lets face it, we need Ricky right now.

Its really not hard to understand:

    +s

-Ricky is playing at the league minimum
-Ricky was/could be an outstanding back for us ( he still has potential either way )
-Ronnie is hurt and we have a sub for him until hes 100%
-Ricky hasnt taken as much punishment as most backs his age

    -s

-He may fail a drug test and get bounced from the league
    -Getting older

The good far outweighs the bad IMO. BP obviously overlooks character flaws if the talent is there (LT)
No shocker that given our current situation we're hanging onto Ricky.

I hope so. Even if your a Ricky hater, you should be hoping he does well if you care about this team and dont want us to have another **** year. He could def help us win a few games if he's in shape and stays out of trouble.

Bill is not an idiot, we need as much talent on this team as we can get... and cheap talent at that!!

I don't blame him for thinking he would have been cut with his rap sheet. However, I am glad he didn't. Ricky's my favorite player and hes a great talent that is playing at a basically nothing contract like others said.

I doubt he would have been cut but I believe that Miami would have taken Ray Rice with the Henne pick if he had been available. We then would have seen some active attempts to trade RW. BP talked about wanting players who were passionate about the game so I agree with RW that he's probably not a Parcells' type. As it turned out, necessity got added to the positive side of RW's balance sheet.

You're everybody's type when you have that kind of potential and playing for peanuts.
When not relying on him for 80% of the offensive production, it's not that big of a deal to cut him if his slips again. That said... man, I hope he doesn't slip again. For his Dolphin tenure, NFL tenure, and just through life in general.

What's not to like about Ricky and what he can do for us vs. how little he costs us? As mad as I was back when, I understand his motives and where his head is at right now, he could be a beast for us, I'm thrilled he is still on our team.

I am guessing we did not cut Ricky Williams because we need someone while Ronnie Brown is out

Ricky has young legs. I hope he has matured and will stay off the weed. I would love to see him return to the player he was about 3 years ago and see him running for 200+ yards on the Pats, Jets and Bills and become the Comeback Player of the Year. If he and Ronnie Brown can get back to 100%, we will have the most incredible running game in the NFL. Imagine the holes Jake Long is going to open up for them. I would run a lot of sweeps to the left. I can't wait for the season to begin.

First off I will state it, I am not a fan of Ricky. However I do believe the reason he is still here is a two part deal. One, he has absolutely no market value after only 6 carries and being hurt making it hard to trade him to anyone. Two, he is also a cheap insurance incase Ronnie takes a few weeks into the season to get back to 100%. I am a firm believer in the fact that Parcells and Co. are going to try and establish a little value for him and try to deal him for a pick before the Week 6 trade deadline. We already drafted two RBs and as long as one shows some promise and Ronnie is healthy, I see no reason to not trade him since his contract will be up at the end of hte season. JMO

I doubt that anyone would give up very much for him now that it's publicly been stated that he's only playing 2 more seasons before retiring. I'm assuming that our FO was aware of this and that was the reason for us to draft 2 rbs.

I would be suprised if Ricky didnt retire a dolphin.

Wait for the injury bug to hit someone else's roster like it did ours last year and someone would be desparate enough to give up a second day pick for him. PS. The tile of this thread should be changed to "Parcells Didn't Nip Ricky In The Bud."
