If I had no other options I'd choose A...we win the division and Jets lose the big game. If it was up to me...19-0. Still I'd much rather see us with a division title then the Jets...and I would love to see the SOJ show up in the big game. Hopefully that would finally shut that fan base up for a minute. Losing in the playoffs sucks...losing the Super Bowl is crushing...ask Pats fan.
Let's break it down. Choice A: Division Title - w00t! Playoff loss (possibly to the Jets) - Booo!!! Jets advance to Super Bowl - Boooo!!! They lose - w00t!!!! Choice B: Jets win division - Booo! Dolphins win AFC! - w00t! Jets lose in playoffs (possibly to Dolphins) - w00t! Dolphins play in Super Bowl for the first time in my life, but lose - PUSH My ruling....AFC title is better than a division title. And I would much rather watch Miami in the Super Bowl than the Jets, regardless of the outcome. Option B by a mile.
Dolphins win Super Bowl, Jets team moves to CFL, Ryan harpooned for his blubber reserves while on vacation in Japan, Jet fans lose use of vocal cords from strange waterbourne illness in NY water supply. How bout that?
Honestly thought seeing the Fins make it to the Superbowl would be amazing. I'm sick of this playoff drought to be honest. I don't think I'd like to see the Jets even close to the Superbowl so I'm choosing lose SB. It boils down to division title and do **** in the playoffs or make it as a wildcard and have a epic playoff run.
I chose Jets win the division Dolphins Lose Superbowl. For 2 reasons: 1. Hypothetically, this will make the following seasons schedule easier 2. Beating the Jets in a playoff game AFTER they've won the division makes me get an evil grin on my face....and I like it.
I don't know why anyone is giving the Jets credit for anything. They played football with the same offensive line for three years without any significant change. That group has had virtually no injuries to speak of which is a rarity to say the least. So here is the deal: 1. That horseshoe will eventually fall out of their collective arse. 2. They just released an anchor in Faneca. 3. They didn't win the division LAST year. Their last two games were against teams that had QUIT for the regular season. They got the equivalent of a golf sponsor's exemption. 4. The Bears released Thomas Jones. What happened? Tomlinson is not even Tomlinson anymore. Heck, he is LESS than Thomas Jones. The legs are shot. 5. The Dolphins swept the Jets. 6. The Patriots and Dolphins defenses sucked last year. After significant improvements I do not think the same thing will happen this year. Still the crap defenses were good enough to put a 1-3 record versus the Jets. 7. Did I mention the Dolphins swept the Jets last year? 8. The Jets were 2-4 in their division. The New York Jets will finish 3rd in the AFC East in 2010. You can tattoo that on your nearest New York neighbors arse.
There is really only one team (and their fans) that are happy at the end of the season. That would be the Super Bowl winners. For me, I'd rather win the Super Bowl, but that wasn't an option. With the two options given, the team is a playoff team in both instances. So, in both cases, the Super Bowl is within striking distance. And if we don't win it, then I'd be happier with the option that allows the team to make the biggest jump. In that case, I'd suspect that it would be team that lost first could do so since it would most likely have the better draft selections.
Mixed emotions on both sides, got an option c? BTW- with both teams jettisoning their respective team killers in Leon Washington and Ted Ginn JR, will these two teams gravitate towards mutual respect through hard fought play or revert to unabashed hatred with fluke plays seemingly brought about by the football gods?
The illness also effects their brains making posting on forums impossible. Illness mutates becoming airborne seeking out jet fans genetic code infecting all globaly causing all the nyj fans that live in Florida to move north. Waaaaay north... Sometimes greed is good. If forced to subscribe to the reality where I didn't wake up next to Sofia Vergara in my beach front mansion then I'd pick division.
Zod, I'm glad someone is cerebral around here... Sounds like logic to me! The Dolphins are younger, stronger and hungrier this year!
I would rather make teh superbowl and lose then have the jets play in the superbowl. Us going to the superbowl would bring free agent interest, because we would then be one of the top teams in the NFL
Getting to the dance is much more important than the division title, however, I think the Pats will have something to say about this...
