That sucks. sorry to hear it and condolences
Really sorry for you man. My dad recently was diagnosed with cancer, and even though the prognosis has been good... just the thought of losing him had me really shook for a while. So while I don't know what you're going though... I got a little taste and that was hard enough. Stay strong bro... remember the good times, remember what he taught you, and be thankful for the time you had with him.
In my thoughts Con, best wishes in this tough time.
Best wishes! Praying for you!
Beautifully said, Rich. You were blessed to have such a great father and great relationship, and you let him know and enjoy one of the greatest gifts a person could ever ask for- grandkids. Sounds like you've had years worth of quality moments to keep his memory alive. A toast to your pops.
Sorry for the loss, Richard. Sounds like a good man.
I am so sorry for your loss, Richard. Lost my dad back in February, so I can share some of your pain. That feeling of someone stepping on your throat goes away after some time. You have my prayers and condolences.
Eternal rest grant unto him, Oh Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I lost my father in the same way, a little over 12 years ago.
I like to think that those who passed on live vicariously through me now via the memories we forged. I guess its the only way to rationalize it. Sorry to hear the terrible news bro.
Deepest sympathy Con. My thoughts are with you and your family.
How you doing bud?
So very sorry for your loss. May he have God's grace, you're in my prayers.
I lost my Dad in 62 and my Mom in 86 yet there's not a day that goes by that they aren't in my head reminding me of one thing or the other, I miss them dearly and hope I've lived a life that honors them and has upheld their good name.
sorry for your loss, really. I wish you and your family the best (and you wrote some beaufitul words and thoughts)
My condolences Con. I lost my dad rather early 22 years ago. He was too young. May he RIP.
May the God of abundant grace give you and your family peace in this time of mourning.
Sorry for your loss homie. Keep your head up and know he's in a better place. I wish your family peace and acceptance during this period.
Sorry for your loss. Its sounds like your Dad was a good guy. Remember he'll always live on in your memories.
So sorry to hear about your loss.
My prayers go out to you and you family.
God bless all of you.
Sorry to hear that bro. My condolences. Dolphins and yankees good combo. At least he got to see the yankees regain their old glory
Very sorry for your loss, thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
I have two sons and I hope I get the same reverence you have given your father when I pass.It means he did a great job as a father and thats all anyone can hope for in raising kids....btw I have 4 .
I am sorry for your loss brother and may he rest in peace.
Sorry to here Con. Your integrity your father instilled in you shines through. That is a good legacy for him and for you to remember.
I know the pain of such loss. Lost my dad when I was 11 - seemed unbearable at the time. And several decades later lost my mom. No matter one's age, there is a great sadness. But hopefully you can recount the great times and lessons with joy.
Prayers are with you and your family. May he rest in peace.
Sorry to hear of your loss. My father passed away from cancer last August. It's a horrible thing but I hope you and the rest of your family nothing but peace and happiness.
Man, I'm approaching 40 and should really quit taking age for granted seeing how many of us have already lost our fathers, mine included. I don't know about the rest of you but I've always imagined an uninterrupted life into my 80's at the very least. Almost seems naive at the moment. This thread has opened my eyes to the fact I should probably work a little harder to ensure I get there.
Prayers. Your dad sounds like a great man, know that it isnt forever. Happily there was no suffering, but never easy losing those close to you. I am sorry for your loss.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers guys.
For those who have asked, I'm doing alright. I have my good and bad moments. But in the end I had an amazing father who continues to amaze me, now that I am going through things. Found some cool pictures today of my dad and I, and some he took of me when I was younger. It kind of makes me smile because I look at the pictures and I see my son in those images; some of the facial expressions and such. Brings back memories, makes you sad, but also makes you remember things long since overcome by the day to day monotony.
Sometimes I am very much at peace with it, other times I am overcome by my emotions, but I always hear a voice telling me to get myself together and get going.
I miss him, I already hear him telling me things to do.
If I was you I'd look at it as you're lucky to have had a great father for however many years as opposed to all the people who have awful ones or have never even met them.
My rule of thumb when it comes to grief is that you look to come to a healthy place where when you remember your loved one it more often brings a smile than a tear. Took me a year with my Mom, two with my Dad and two and a half with my first wife. And to this day regarding all of them, the tears still occasionally come. You continue to have my prayers.
I am so sorry for your loss. I started tearing up just reading your post. He must have been a great man and there are no words anyone can provide that are adequate right now. Your family will be in my prayers.
Con, I feel your pain. Lost my dad two years ago Christmas day. We all just have to keep on keeping on, I guess, but sometimes it's hard to do...My best to you and yours...
Anything we can do to help Rich. Even of it's just being a forum to vent. As we would for any of our members.
