One more good target for Tannehill, real problem is the offensive line.

Passing offense skill positions are shaping up nicely overall, it is going to be difficult for defenses to double one player and shut them down w/o someone else burning them

 

I'm hoping in the off season Wallace and Tannehill spend time working on chemistry but maybe we have a new OC that lets Ryan improvise a little more and an oline who helps him be able to improvise. Tannehill has to stop aiming his long throws and throw to a spot. lots of young QBs at the high school level have this problem, I coach High School ball here in Canada. Pick the spot on the field where it needs to go instead of trying to be so exact 40 yards downfield. It leads to inconsistent long throws. Matthews has great hands and could become a very nice part of this offense. If we had a half decent Oline and a consistent running game we could be scary. Here's hoping.

Tannehill has proven he can throw the ball to anyone the just "tries" to play the receiver position...Not sure whats not to like about Matthews...Big strong kid, fast, can get open, and sure handed. He needs to start over Mike Wallace at this point.

Mike Wallace just got slower in a 9 month span. You guys nailed it!

 

T-Hill tries to finesse the long ball. Roethlisberger just heaved it as far as he could, and Wallace just ran as fast as he could.

To play devil's advocate, how many times has THill overthrown Wallace? Ummmmm. Not many, it at all. How many times has he underthrown him? Practically every time. Speed may not equal chemistry, but it definitely affects it. I said earlier if Rothlesburger threw to Wallace under exact conditions THill did over the course of this season, his stats would be drastically better. Not saying THill sucks at the deep ball, although his stats do suck this year, but perhaps he isn't used to Wallace's speed yet. I don't think it is that absurd to think that.

He's overthrown him numerous times. Tannehill has a stronger arm than Big Rape. The chemistry is not there. Tannehill has not had*chemistry problems with any other receiver. He linked up with Hartline last year after Hartline missed the entire offseason. He was fine with Bess, Fasano, Keller, Gibson, matthews and Clay too.

 

Wait til he's starts running Over fools from the slot...he as more overall talent than any of our wide receivers..

And let me say this, he trains like a freakin beast in the offseason..craft is important to him.

Where have I argued that Wallace is different? Its possible that a QB and WR don't develop chemistry and it not be because one of them changed. Seriously, what argument do you think you're having?

What you were attempting to "argue" I shot down in less than a sentence.

 

There a number of potential reasons there isn't a successful relationship between Wallace. Can part of it be the oline not blocking long enough for Wallace to get deep? Sure. But I don't know who was arguing the oline plays no part in any of this. People were implying that there's some flaw in Tannehill that he can't utilize Wallace correctly, and I merely pointed out that Tannehill hasn't had a problem building a chemistry with any other WR.

You can pretend I'm making this about any number of other things, if you want to. Don't know why you'd want to though.

I think you could argue Hartline and Tannehill have chemistry. Other than that I think you would have to be using that term loosely.

There is no mistaking that they aren't making plays like they should, but to me it has more to do with the protection and lack of oppurtunities in wich case I believe the OL takes the grunt of the blame. Maybe it's Sherman, maybe it's Tannys deep ball. All I know is I see a lot of other issues than the guy beating top level DB's by 3-4 yards to no avail.

 

Seriously, I'm going to ask again, what argument do you think you're having with me?

I mean, you broach what I'm talking about briefly, then just go back to arguing about the oline and how Wallace is perfect.

Wallace is a freestyler type receiver, rotherlisberger is a freestyler type Qb..

We are running the most intensive strict timing based offense ive ever seen..Tannehill is basically a golf testing pendulum at this point..

I think you guys are confusing chemistry with distance of throws. Ofcourse, tannehill is going to complete more passes to guys not named Wallace, because 1) he throws a lot of short passes 2) his accuracy downfield the last 5-6 games is abysmal. He misses Hartline badly at least once a game on that comeback route he runs. Is that lack of chemistry or just poor accuracy? I think the answer is obvious. Dink n dunk qb + incompetent coordinator + worst oline + lack of run game and lack of playaction out of a running formation equals lack of production from Wallace. Wallace isn't without blame though. His hands and effort have been piss poor but he's still the best deep threat in the game. We just can't take advantage of it. Tannehill needs to get rid of the ball faster to help from under-throwing while also limiting the risk of getting hit before being able to launch it.

 

I'm not arguing with anyone? I just have to rehash my feelings on why we are not making plays down field. Many people ( NOT SAYING YOU) are taking the easy way out and just saying "oh Mike Wallace sucks" instead of trying to figure out why.
