Ryan is borderline ginger so I don't know about that.....Well i'm off to file grievances against you, Ronin, and Fin. Ciao.
You have to give a lot of crdit to John Jerry on that play, he had a hell of a block that cleared the way for Ryan.
Eh, seen this all before. I see nothing that makes me think 7-9 isn't in our future. We literally did everything we normally do to lose the game except Rivers and the Chargers did what they did too. When we play a hot Carolina team next week, it won't be such a fun Sunday afternoon.
Hope you are right about Dion Jordan being a good player...It just seems to me that we haven't gotten anything out of him this year but that should change next year. I expect defensive changes along with offensive changes so i'm willing to wait and see on Dion Jordan. Still though if our defense is going to be dominant he has got to make plays for us. Ever since the Bengals game, Ryan Tannehill has won me over. For all the circumstances he's facing the guy is finding ways to get it done. To me that is the sign of a franchise QB. Fix the o-line, and get this guy some reliable help and he will blossom. We are 5-5 and the playoffs are there if we want them bad enough. You can always count on other teams losing but really as long as we take care of business we will make the playoffs. A win against Carolina next week would be massive for us....Sweeping the Jets would be big too...As bad as things have been we still aren't out of this yet.
If you want to look at it from that perspective, we're 2-0 this year against "red hot" teams. I don't worry about beating the good organizations...it's those lousy 0-7 clubs that scare the crap out of me.
I don't see Plummer at all Ro, Tannehill is a pure thrower of the football and Plummer was a much better escape artist.
What other team was hot at the time we beat them other than Cincy? Which we were one piss poor penalty call and a conservative coach away from losing. Listen, I hope we win and I'll be rooting that we do. But I'm not expecting anything else out of this season other than changes in the off-season.
Then he topped it off with the QB hit on the last play of the game that caused Rivers' pass to come out like a lame duck.
I remember his GF/wife on draft day, a very buxom and attractive blond. I bet Ronin would prefer nudes of her rather than the redheaded version of Alfred E Newman.
He came within a few inches of getting a safety in the Bucs game. That was one very obvious play where he made a stop at or behind the LOS.
I guess I have my Dolphins blinders on, because Ellerbe looks infinitely better to me than Crowder ever did.
Ellerbe isn't a thumper in run defense, but I think he is generally pretty good in coverage. This was not a good game for him today though. He is currently tied for 2nd among ILBs in passes defensed with 4, and has a QB rating of 72 into his coverage. He is allowing 6.7 yds per catch which is 4th best among ILBs.
Wheeler has 14 missed tackles which is about 4th most among all linebackers. Ellerbe has 9. Wheeler is also nowhere near as good in pass coverage, although he did better than usual in the SD game.
I meant that as more of if you were to put Tannehill in that type of offense, he could really take off. Utilize bootlegs, rollouts, etc. Tannehill is a better thrower than Plummer for sure.
That part I definitely agree. I watched a lot of Jake the Snake, and he was one slippery bastard. Wish Tannehill had that kind of escapability.
He turned around and there was a guy there with another jersey, thats his job to block him.....I guess our line is so bad now we have to give them a lot of credit for doing what their supposed to?
Not too mention, the lineman with the most starts this year? Jerry. The only lineman with a false start yesterday? Jerry.....and he had 2 of them.
I think the running out of bounds thing isn't that big a deal, and how it was explained in the press conference I think is a more damning indictment of the coaching staff than Tannehill. They ran a half-field read where the primary option was a guy who had seem the Dolphins run that play in practice over and over- Richard Marshall. He sat on the route all the way, and he had to try to extend the play as best as possible. I dunno about the Olivier Vernon thing either. He had a couple instances where he got physically handled by Fluker, but he had a productive day rushing the passer beyond the sack- Which was absolutely a thing of beauty.
All of this...good stuff Vernon is a big reason we're so poor against the run. Odrick and Misi set the edges so well.
Crowder and Ellerbe are basically opposites in their strengths and weaknesses. Though I remember complaining about too many of Crowder's tackles being 5-7 yds past the LOS too.
Vernon is an edge rusher, he gets his *** kicked sometimes when he's asked to line up too tight. They've moved away from that thankfully and put Derrick Shelby in that position.
My fault. I thought you had made that comparison. Must have been someone else...also with compromising pictures of Andy Dalton.
Could not agree more..Who saw Ellerbe as a fit as MLB in this defense is blind. Could he excell as an ILB in a 3-4? can only hope. Tackles are very over rated when Ellerbe is making them down field. Tries to run around blocks, thus forcing bad angles to the ball carrier and being a step late. Once blocked, has a very difficult time getting disengaged.Saw it early in preseason and has continued all season,
I absolutely don't like the fact that this coordinator and staff have not utilized the full skillset of our Qb..I think they did some yesterday and we saw the result, effectiveness..I'd like to see a lot more movement in the offense, I'm not buying the whole bootleg cuts off half the field so it can only be so effective, not when the Qb is just as lethal going to both sides, I think you can Stretch the field horizontally with this Qb and keep defenses guessing on which side he's going to because of his dexterity.. I really think we haven't stretched all inches of the field because of the play calling and the lack of a moving pocket.
not enough C..I wish we could get a gif of that late play where rivers and royal missed down the middle..Jordan was in that middle backer position, he was a bit late on his read, but when he exploded towards rivers it was something to see, and I'm pretty sure he affected the throw because of it.. What is that defense called when he lines up there like that? He absolutely has to learn how to counter his outside move, I mean come on Dion, spin move buddy, learn it...I've seen him do it in college on occasion but not nearly enough..
That's what I meant DJ. I could have sworn you've posted that before which is why I mentioned you. Sorry for the confusion. And I wholeheartedly agree.
