Ronnie did start out with a few good games, and everything a team does affects a play's stats, to a degree. However, IF he was "going through the motions" for over half the season, it only increases my disappointment.
Crunch, I sure hope your right..I agree with you to a degree, so talented, but the demeanor, the aggressive nature, just doesn't seem to be there, also, the explosiveness, seems to have faded, and the body seems to be getting bigger as well....but I will tell you, I dont have a lot of conviction about my opinion for some reason. Hes the most frustrating player on our team imo..ive seen him play with a sense of urgency only a few times, but when he does, he takes over the game..
Now he doesn't have an aggressive nature? I can't get behind that considering some of the hits he's delivered in his time in Miami. Aging doesn't mean he can't hit people anymore. He's not an elite player but bringing him back [the team will be interested in reaching a fair price obviously] is beneficial. He can be coached to hit holes faster if that's what he needs to do. Once again, coaching is needed in Miami. Nothing wrong with Ronnie as the number two back.
How would you catergorize passive than for a running back...? Hes made some great punishing runs during his time here..just not consistent.
How many here have been looking forward to R&R each running for 1,000 yards year, after year, after year? I know I have. No more, I'm done. As a #2 overall pick, he was not a bust, just a huge disappointment. If not for the Wild Cat, it would've been worse.
yeah I dont think anyone can argue that anymore, and believe me, I used to all the time..he dissapointed me bigtime.....Part of me feels he never took his craft as serious as he should have...I really have no proof of that except some body issues, but its just how I feel.
People used to criticize him for wanting to run into people too much rather than looking for holes. Something to consider. He obviously needs to do some things differently but which is it? No one will dispute he hasn't lived up to what he thought he could be. But people are going on like he wronged the team and they can't get rid of him fast enough. Nonsense. If he walks and goes to a better coached team you will see. He still won't be elite but I'll venture to say he'll be more productive than much of his time in Miami.
There is absolutely zero evidence to support that claim. There are plenty of people that took the NFL more seriously than anything else in their lives and didn't amount to anything as a player. Ronnie's always been a big back, I'm not sure why you always want to claim he's fat every season.
After a number of years, we all need to accept the fact that we got what we drafted, a very talented RB to split carries with another one, same as college. Time to move on.
Why did Cam basically bench him, and put him back to return kicks? Then he came around. Just a thought.
Iam not going to get into that, its obviously still a sensitive issue with you, and for the past 6 years I have made excuses for ronnies ridiculous amount of talent that translated into inconsistent production patterns and no shows in big games where he needed to come out and take over..This was the #2 overall pick..To quantify his production stats when he was on the field, relative to that fact, you get dissapointment.
That was four years ago. It is a great example of some of the things he can contribute with real offensive coaching.
Move Ronnie to fullback, plain and simple. Still a talented running threat; he'll also catch all those drops by Polite out of the backfield. He came up that way...
There have been several wins that Ronnie Brown has had a direct hand in over the past few seasons. Some of them should be obvious. It's not a sensitive issue with me. You invest too much emotionally into players and coaches and then when they break your heart you can't see clearly anymore. You put faith in Ronnie that he would become an elite player and now that he will never be what you thought you can only see negatives. Inconsistency, a perceived inability to change games, etc. You held him to a standard he was likely never going to meet. This is why you would come out and say he was getting fat when nobody else was reporting that or noticing that. You need a reason for the failure when the simple answer is probably just that he isn't as talented or gifted as you [or many others] thought. The same thing happened with Bill Parcells. You take it personally when these people let you down. Ronnie disappointed us yet he's still a productive offensive NFL player. If he walks [or stays] and never does crap again in his NFL career feel free to quote this post and tell me how wrong I was. And no he doesn't have to rush for 1500 yards a season to be productive or worth a roster spot. I'd say over a thousand if he's a feature back and something similar to what he's already done as a reserve. The biggest obstacle IMO to his Miami return will be deciding his monetary value.
That was a pretty good analysis of me, I like How you at least think you know my personality here {not being sarcastic at all}, it shows that you at least care to know the members here. If I may defend myself a bit from your conclusions..Number 1 there is a difference between breaking my heart and having dissapoinment in a player or coach..If your standard for Ronnie brown is what you mention above than you are setting the bar low for the #2 overall pick in the draft, with that skillset, when he came out..The few times that he has changed games, alongside the production he has given us, does not meet my standard, a standard that I set for him because of breaking down that skillset with my own eyes..Therefore resulting in my dissapointment...Ronnie Brown is one of the most talented football players that I have ever seen in a dolphin uni, if not the most...The performance on the field as he approaches 30 years old falls way short... As far as Parcells..Yup, you nailed me...he broke my heart, the respect I had for him before he decided to be part of our franchise was unprecedented..He was imo, the smartest man in the game..so you could imagine my excitement when he arrived..I have admitted on this board, I missread the man, and have apologized to all the folks that tried to warn me. I did not make up something to validate my opinion when it came to ronnie brown and weight, I really feel that the man came into camp out of shape a couple of times..once again, you dont have to trust my eyes, but I do...Ronnie Brown is going to be 30 years old this year, and I believe he has played his entire career 10 to 15 lbs over where he should been..How many times have you seen Ronnie brown get tackled from behind or get clipped thru a hole, get up and show visible anger towards himself...At least a dozen times ive witnessed it....Iam not the only one dissapointed in him..
Come on man. Don't ya remember Ronnie telling the team to "Man UP" before running 12 times for 11 yards?
It's just a perception, obviously I don't know you personally. I appreciate that you didn't take that as a negative. I'm not saying you are necessarily wrong about Ronnie not keeping himself in shape, only that I didn't hear much about it anywhere else. He definitely could have slipped at times. I think we all thought Ronnie was capable of more. But as far as whether he tried hard or not I think we've seen plenty of examples of him trying. That's why I don't get the negative sentiment towards him. He didn't go out and play scared like Ted Ginn. He gave us something at least. As I said earlier we may have all overestimated his talent [Nick Saban included of course], maybe he just has really bad luck. I don't know. What I do know is that with good offensive coaching he can be a productive piece of our offense. We will need to continue to look for our Adrian Peterson.
That's one example. I could bring up the MNF Jets game from 09. Or the 08 Chargers game where he moved the chains, kept their offense off of the field, and helped seal the win. It goes both ways.
Any day now Ricky's gonna hit a brick wall, and I don't want to be a part of it..... especially if it's during a playoff run...... and even more especially if he's counted on being THE guy b/c our #1 goes down again. We all saw how well that turned out. He poses too much of a risk to be on this team, and I'd be surprised if our FO didn't feel the same way. It's either Ronnie or Lex combined with a stud rookie (and I still believe LeShoure is the dark horse).
and my perception of you 979, is that your protecting the player too much relative to his production on the field, and where he was drafted...Do I appreciate him being on our team thru its adverse times, yes, hes true, however at some point you have to take a GM perspective with a player and seperate your feelings, thats what I always try to do, once I have enough data... Much respect.
It's a two back league so I expect one of Ronnie or Ricky to be back. I don't discount Ricky because of what he said, it is a free country and if he is cheaper then he would be the backup. I don't see Ronnie being a starter so he would have to take a bit of a pay cut. Not too worried about RB though.
I just wonder what his market value is going to be. It's hard to find many backs who have been the enigma Ronnie has been. There may be a GM out there who thinks he can get 2007 Ronnie for a couple of seasons.
You suggested that someone look at his 2007 highlights. So I thought it was relevant since the man has obviously lost a step making his highlights from 2007 irrelevant.
I thought all season Ronnie was playing to stay healthy. So now that he made a whole season with no serious injury did it improve his value? Maybe, maybe not but he's not known as injury prone at season end for once. I'm really not sure but i do believe there are more good games left in Ronnie than Ricky. Ricky does not want the work load and his fumbles were just game killers.
That could have been another factor. He may have thought it was more important to stay healthy than to pile on stats. I think Ricky is showing symptons of being done plus he is unreliable .
