I have seen some posts where people are confused as to what happens, this should shed some light....Restricted free agent Ronnie Brown allowed Monday night's deadline to pass without signing his tender offer from the Dolphins.
Brown is in a unique contract situation. The Dolphins declined a $5 million club option earlier this offseason, instead tendering Brown a $3.97 million offer. The $3.97 million is already at 110 percent of his 2009 salary, so it cannot be lowered. The only deadline that matters for Brown is August 10, which is 30 days before the start of the regular season.

people might get confused on the August 10th date, basically August 10th is 30 days until the start of the season games, and if a platyer is unsigned by then he loses a years service...
My question is why is he not signing the tender....according to this article it cant be lower, cuz it is already 110%, he has to know he isnt getting an extension. There is no where to go except not signing at all and that isnt an option, so why is he not signing, any thoughts....??

imo it's possibly because they have not worked out a trade yet for whatever reason.marshall signed his tender a day before he was traded..so have other guys right before being traded.im really not hip going into the season with ricky,cobbs and hilliard but that seems to be the way it is anyway with ronnie always getting dinged.i wouldn't mind getting a sure starting fs out of the trade if it were to happen as we can get a good rb a dime a dozen.we shall see august 10th.

Not worried about this in the least, I believe this regime wants Ronnie in our backfield and Ronnie wants to be there. They will get this settled in time for TC latest. Due to his history of injuries I do not expect them to give Ronnie a long term contract though. Probably a one year deal, then next off season they'll either replace him or reward a good year with the extension, but again, not a long one. If needed they could put the franchise tag on him next offseason while they groom his replacement in 2011 season.

It could be that they are working on a new contract. It could be that his agent doesn't see it hopeless that this tender offer is the best he'll get, so he's holding back on signing it while they work things out or it could be, as some have said that he's not going to worry about it until the Aug 10 date. Brown doesn't have much to stand on. While he's an outstanding back, he's also never completed a season in his career, coming off his 2nd major surgery in three years and is not this regimes' pick. I highly suspect that there is no major consternation between the groups because the Fins hold all the cards, at least for now. Brown is not known as a problem child and the Fins, despite his injury issues, need his services, if for not more than this year so I just don't think there is any need for concern yet... -
I did read the whole article, I highly doubt they are working on a new contract, unless he takes discount, Miami isnt giving this cat top tier running back money. How do I know?? I dont, just my guess....below is per rotoworld...."language issues" huh....

that being said now is the time you should try to get something done long term if you want Ronnie Brown on your team after this year, from a negotiating stand point, u should want to hammer out a contract now, rather than after this season, if he goes off for say 1000+ and 9 TDs.....just sayinglate again likes this. -
why is everyone sweating over this? he'll be a dolphin this year, hes not going to miss any OTAs, camps or games, and thats that...
