There are of course only two teams on next year's schedule left to be determined. We play At the AFC West, and home vs the AFC North. Both against the team who finishes in the same spot that we do in their respective division. Now, since the Bills play vs New England this week, should they lose Miami will finish 2nd in the East regardless of how we play against the Jets, based on tiebreakers. (it also means that the Bills will draft ahead of us). That means that we'll play the loser of the Steelers vs Bengals game, and the winner of the Chargers vs Chiefs game. Despite being a bit inconsistant, I see the Steelers as one of the best teams in the AFC next season. Had they not dropped two games against the worst teams in the league, they'd be playing for a 1st round bye this weekend. The Bengals, on the other hand, not only seem to somehow both underachieve and overachieve at the same time, but are also a club that we have great success against. Given the choice, Cincinnati is the easy call, IMO. As for the West, looking at the scores of the games against the two clubs this season should tell you all that you need to know. Philbin's teams are 2-0 vs the Chargers. I've always felt that Rivers is one of the most overrated players in the league, and they may lose some key players to free agency after the season.
Really hoping SD gets in. I despise Pittsburgh as their fans are as obnoxious as Dallas & Pats fans. I do feel that Pittsburgh is the only team that has a chance at beating NE in the playoffs though.
Dolphins and Jags both finished third in their divisions this season. Anyway, I would also prefer to face the Chargers instead of the Chiefs. The Chargers have a weak front seven and I'm not convinced our offensive line will ever be halfway decent ever again.
I was going to thank this post until you said Rivers is one of the most overrated players in the league. Thats just straight up silly. What he actually is, is a very good (albeit maybe not elite) QB who is ringless through no fault of his own. Tell me another QB who played with a torn ACL in a game (let alone the fact it was a playoff game) and played reasonably well. Everything else is spot on so I guess Ill thank it anyway.
I never judge any player on team championships. I think that he's a better than average QB who's been surrounded by HOF talent and good offensive coaching. He's also a total *** and I've hated him since his freshman year of college. So, there's that.
Hopefully with an impartial ref crew. Those illegal man downfield calls and the non stop holding and roughing the passer never called. They are a sorry team.
I have never seen so many called before. Then the irony of the Seachickens getting away w/ a blatant one the same weekend.
wait...so we play play the AFC west again next year? Weird....I thought it rotated for both AFC and NFC outside divisions.
