Good job by Ross to explain the mindset behind the moves made and not made. He didn't have to say anything, but he reached out to the fans because he does appreciate them.

A lot of what he said makes perfect sense too.

Owner is to 'own'. That's also applies to owning and being held responsible for mediocrity and stagnancy. I hope they all jump ship. Philbin deserves a better class of support.

Don't take that the wrong way TP, Ross was showing partnering with Philbin for the first time.

It sounded like a bunch of lame excuse-making to me. And wishful thinking, frankly.

It was a breath of fresh air in the **** sea the dolphins boat has been sailing in as of lately. I really liked the read. PR or not, Ross didn't have to say a Damn thing. I like this

BS. We are devoid of a decent Offense right now. Every man jack Dolphin fan has been left dissapointed with our FA signings or lack of. I'm an Official Ross hater until he actually does somehing that helps the team. Ross is gathering cob webs and doing nothing.

Looks to me that Philbin didn't regard Flynn as highly as you did. He was offered a contract with a chance to compete against Moore for the starting job. If I was Flynn I'd rather take my chances vs Jackson as well. Did you miss the part where he said if MY COACH wanted him, he would be here?

I understand it's a cool thing that he reached out but is anyone else concerned he is discussing draft strategy publicaly ? Why talk about drafting a QB? It's a bit odd

Also if I read this and I'm the Seahawks I'm a little nervous tonight . Philbin spends 4 years with Flynn and doesn't want to stake his first year of coaching on him ? RED FLAG for Flynn

But dolphins DID offer him a contract.....lame

Do I even want to know what that is?

Getting rid of a guy like Marshall before he destroys another QB helps the team. Fans crying about every move, regardless of the topic and FACTS provided, does not.

Does anyone else think this is pretty cool? I'm not aware of other owners doing this, but I'm absolutely naive to that also.

As someone mentioned, this is really good PR. As soon as I read it, I believed Ross and I thought how great it'd have been to be that guy. It sounds to me like Ross has enough with the protest. I believe it was his idea to get Ireland to reach out to the media and his idea to reach out to one of the fans.

I want to apologize to djphinfan and say you were right. I speculated there could have been many other reasons about Flynn not being here other than Philbin not wanting him. You stuck to that opinion and it was correct. You're still wrong about Rivers though, haha.

Anyone else come away not believing we won't draft a QB? I think Tannehill and Weeden are our top targets.

As pro flynn as I was, I didn't expect something like this..... Very interesting in retrospect.... I'm glad he seems to be very faithful in coach Joe

You guys should want no part of Plaxico. Maybe he will find a way to get open outside of the 20 yard line, but I wouldn't bet on it. Great threat once inside the 20 though. He's not even a legit 2 WR at this point. You would be better off taking a chance on Edwards. Plus Edwards can do the Dougie.

If Flynn ends up playing well in Seattle, the quote from Ross will make Philbin look like he can't tell a good QB when he see's one. I would have said something else or at all on that issue.

More or less, what his role would be, maybe do more things in the middle of the field as well.

As for Butter Edwards, he would be strictly on a "show me" deal, that dude has about used up his chances in the NFL.

Yeah, I hate when an owner pursues a heavily desired stud HC prospect in the hopes of winning...... then follows it up by pursuing a 96.0M HOF QB in the hopes of a SB...... and pays to have black outs lifted..... and is passionate about winning..... and brings in a head coach who might be worth a damn who comes from a winning organization..... and might prefer to finally use a 1st round pick on a franchise hopeful QB rather than "win now mode" retreads..... and is happily willing to open his checkbook.

It's too bad there's only 1 Paul Brown to go around. :shifty:

and what kind of contract did we offer him?
Did we offer one that conveys a major vote of confidence?..... or did we offer one that conveys a vote of interest & caution?

Huh? I'm not sure if you misinterpreted my post.
I wasn't sure if Padre was alluding to "my coach" being interpreted as "I chose him, not Ireland"...... so I was merely addressing that logic if it were the case.

What's your definition of tears it up? If he puts up a better season than whoever is your starter, it will make Philbin look bad. Ross put him firmly on the hook with that comment. Not the end of the world, but he could have left that one out.

I think what he meant was "this is the coach I chose, not the one I inherited when I bought the team"

Wasn't Philbin on the GB staff with Favre and Rogers as the QBs? I'm pretty sure he knows what a good QB looks like. I don't know what he saw during his film study but it's obvious he thinks Moore is just as good or better than Flynn.

    Hilarious.

    Our Owner is an idiot.

BTW, that Receiver that "destroys" quarterbacks? Well, the one that he has now, loves him, and the last one he had (Moore) he helped have a breakthrough season.

It's all bull****. All this post-trade badmouthing of Marshall, shows another propensity for ***-covering that this regime is so adept at.

Hopefully our coach isn't a certified moron like his GM and owner.

If I were Philbin, if by the grace of god, the Fins went 9-7 and he became a hot commodity for a college job, I would jump ship as soon as I could.

Thought you might be trying to say something silly like "See, Ireland is subconsciously telling us Philbin was HIS choice and that Ireland was completely against it."

Depends on how it happens. We don't even know who our starting QB is right now.

If it's Tannehill or Weeden, nobody should say Philbin why wasn't that rookie already better than a guy who's been in the league for 4 years?

Yeah, especially with jacking up yet another women in a bar fight, solid citizen that one.

I can understand dumping Marshall, cannot understand not signing a Vet to replace him.

Any wagers on whether he gets into hot water in Chicago as well? If anything, Chicago will make his problems worse.

I wonder how much he's going to love him after he leaves a 1/2 dozen or so TDs on the field. I mean after his suspension.

If you look at what he has done, everywhere he has been, it is apparent that this is a pattern for him, and will likely continue.

Chicago is known for being a party town, and many are the athletes that land there and disappear, or fall off.

The more I think about this, I wonder if it will be Garrard v Moore, loser is traded, and a draft pick like Weeden?

Of course, like slipping on the McDonald's bag, not his fault.

When similar things keep happening to the same person, similar scenarios, he losses the benefit of the doubt to me Sect. Crap does happen occasionally, with him, Denver and Miami (via NYC) same things. Booze, late night, violence, night club, women.

As for Ireland trading for him, that is spot on, and I don't believe they were going to release him tbh.

I didn't realize he picked Farve and Rodgers.

Ross publicly stated that his coach did not want Flynn. If Flynn ends up playing well, I do not see how that comment doesn't hurt Philbin. I can bet you if Flynn excels in Seattle, many people here will reference that quote. Hopefully Flynn sucks and its a moot point.
