Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross plans to add up to three more celebrity investors to his team, a well-placed source said, adding to a group that includes entertainers Marc Anthony and Gloria and Emilio Estefan.
More than most sports team owners, Ross is moving aggressively to glamorize the Dolphins, a team that until recent years had lacked any distinctive buzz in its South Florida market.

A lot of people are balking at this trend. I kind of like it, I know Marc Anthony isn't going to be drawing up the defensive playbook and Gloria Estefan won't be running drills during practice, but having high profile people drawing interest to the team is cool. And bringing in the Latin community is cool as hell, that's a huge demographic in South Florida.

If he really wants to represent Miami, I suggest adding Pitbull, Vanilla Ice and 2 Live Crew...
I don't like this one bit. This is a football team hellbent on winning. We don't need some washed up wannabee stars representing this team. All we need is the Trifecta running the show. I doubt Parcells will be too impressed when Gloria has him doing the Conga at TC.. Opt out here we come :D :D -

Is this new marketing blitz going to result in higher ticket prices and the Conga instead of the wave?
The Miami Dolphins are a football team. I don't want to go to the stadium and have a Miami Heat experience with a DJ spinning records like I'm at a club. I think this team is being built to represent a grind it out, tough group of guys.. Not a South Beach style soiree party.
Maybe I'm overreacting... -

More latinos in the stadium does not equal a congo line, or enchiladas instead of popcorn being sold. It equals more fans maybe getting a bit more interested in the nfl, thus more tickets are sold.
People need to calm down. They are artists, both like it or not, well known in the states and in other countries. They can maybe glamorize the dolphins a bit more, which leads to better facilities for the team and for the rest of the fans because there will be more money. Its no different then when the red sox show matt damon during a baseball game, etc. Just something to help out with sells a bit.calphin, dolphindebby and opfinistic like this. -

Its all good guys, its just trying to connect the community to the team to give it a sense of hometown pride. Which can build into a connection with the team, kinda like what soccer does in other countries.
I just want our fans to step up this year..we have to be more vocal then other teams fans because were not only battling the opponent, but also the stadium itself.opfinistic likes this. -
I could care less who owns the team as long as its stable and they stay out of the way. But I see nothing wrong with trying to create a buzz around the stadium and make it feel like even more of an event. :) As long as they don't go overboard, of course.
The people Ross has brought into ownership are highly successful and carry safe, proven reputations.
As for future celebs, what if Alonzo Mourning bought a piece of the team? Hell I'd love it. Definitely could get onboard for sports types. Just as long as it's not a Mark Gastineau or Carwell Gardener. :lol:gafinfan and opfinistic like this. -

I have no problem with a latin influence, hell I grew up in Miami and love the Latin culture, especially the women
To me this is about diluting the game for commercial purposes. I come to the stadium to watch football, not to see Marc Anthony in the stands or some other shrill that doesn't know what a field goal means.
I could care less if it was Marc Anthony or Metallica. I just don't know what to make of this new marketing machine.. And I don't know if all this hoopla has a negative impact on how Parcells views the direction of the organization. Again, I'm probably overreacting and reading in to this too much.opfinistic likes this. -
Well heck, if Ross is going for star power I say give Opie a piece of the action, he is big on Phinz boards and we could be known as the "los wolverinos" if he comes onboard...
