I posted this in the FAQ thread but thought a new thread was needed. The official active roster on the Jags website and the usatoday site don't mesh. Not even close. There are players on one but not on the other and vice versa. Is anyone else having this issue and what are we doing about. Basically what I'm asking is where the hell are we getting our official rosters from. I need answers, I'm at a stalemate.
Not much I can do... I was going tell people when I post the rosters from USA Today, to go over nfl.com's rosters and tell me who is missing and I'll decide on salaries from there... I really can't help that there isn't a perfect site since NFLPA has taken down their active player search. We have to work with what we got. For the most part, with the exception of the Rams, I've noticed that most teams look fine except they are missing practice squad type guys and what not.
GIK if we go that route, take the remaining players base salary from Madden. Dont just make something up that hardly seems fair.
You realize that most players missing are not even on Madden? What we are missing is practice squad players, future contact guys, and what not... usually the $310K guys that every winds up cutting because no one really knows who they are.
I can go through the rosters on Madden quickly to compare whether USA Today or Madden is more accurate... but I will not compile the rosters again by myself like I did lsat night with USA Today... I'll help but I will need volunteers because I don't have the time to do that again.
Why don't we just go by the USA Today rosters and keep it that way? Saves a lot of people time and it's still legit.
I think USA Today mixed players from a lot of teams around the more I look into it. Matt Giorganio (sp?) plays for the Packers, but is on USA Today's Jacksonville roster; Ernest Wilford plays for the Jaguars but is on USA Today's Kansas City Chiefs roster. It's just little things. I noticed the Wilford thing as I was compiling but I just noticed Giorganio after looking it up... I think whoever did USA Today's salary database should be fired...
In that case, to save you time, we can each doubl echeck the players on our teams and whichever one is incorrect, we can PM the player and salary to the correct team.
Third. Actually, I think the rosters from USA Today were for the beginning of the season, though I could be wrong. I was able to find most of my players, but I've got a handful of players without a salary. I went with the roster from NFL.com ... that way I know I have everyone and it's up-to-date. I'll be cutting most of these guys, though I plan on keeping Conner Barth. Lots of those missing salaries are first year guys or PS players.
Just trying to be realistic but I really don't see all 32 GMs doing that... I know some will, I appreciate it, but I just don't think everyone will do... which is unfair to some people.
sorry, i get it now i just imagined using the next years numbers to go with drafting for next year ect. I have some bugs too like pigskinguy on the usatoday like having kevin mawae on the skins
It's not that simple I don't think. There are guys not on the USA Today roster that are not the Jags roster. And not no names either.
My 2 cents? Go to a sportsline.com or ESPN and look at final depth charts, THEN go to USA today for salaries for your final roster regardless of where USA Today says they play for. Sportline also has a list of free agents for each team under its respective team page. Just a thought.
