Roy Williams reiterated Wednesday that he's happy to be a Detroit Lions, but that on draft day he "thought (he) was out of here."
Williams says Rod Marinelli called him just once in March, but said "it's done. You're not going anywhere." Williams will be in a more conservative offense this year, but is playing for a contract. Safely expect 1,000 yards. Williams added that he anticipates being hit with the franchise tag next offseason.

WILLIAMS THOUGHT HE’D BE TRADED, THINKS HE’LL BE FRANCHISED
As Detroit Lions receiver Roy Williams enters the final year of his rookie contract, he recently acknowledged that he thought he’d no longer be a member of the team, based on rampant offseason rumors of a trade.
“From all the rumors, I thought I was out of here,” Williams told the Detroit Free Press. “Just from listening to everything. But then I listened to Coach [Rod Marinelli] saying I wasn’t going nowhere, so that reassured me that I wasn’t going anywhere.”
Williams said that he had a single conversation with Marinelli on the matter. “He just called me one time in March,” Williams said. “He said, ‘It’s done. You’re not going nowhere.’”

I think Roy has made it pretty clear over the last few months that he wants out of Detroit. However, the team has made its decision, and he's fulfilling his contract and keeping his mouth shut, which is the opposite of what I would have expected. It's refreshing to see though.alen1 likes this.
