He won't be cut. Along with the total lack of depth that we have, and the other injuries, it would incur a dead money hit of just shy of 5 million. Next year, it would be 2.6. He's played awful though yes.
I'd think his regression is intriguing. I'd like to see if he can get a bit stronger and clean up his act in the 2nd half of the season. You can't throw away a RT with James potential. He's been fairly solid at times in the past but he looks like he's being out-muscled which is why I wonder if maybe there's an injury getting in the way of his conditioning or something. In defense of today, too, that one unsportsmanlike for essentially touching a Pittsburgh player in the pile was ******ed. How does the NFL have that as a rule? You could probably call a flag on someone in every play of every game if you wanted to. Just a stupid rule. Anyhow, all the problems with James seem to stem from his just not being as strong as the man in front of him. He's either getting pushed back or forced to hold. To me, if it's a strength and conditioning issue, then it's fixable.
Who would replace him? I know he is not playing well but we are running out of bodies. Not complaining about who we got rid of though. The oline really picked it up today. Glad to see this group on the field together.
I'm over James. I don't think we can do anything with him this year but would love to find a replacement this offseason.
yes that one, and another one that they called on him, but it was really the receiver not lined up on the line like they should have been. So he got two bogus calls against him.
With no financial benefit in cutting him, I would expect him to be on the 2017 roster as well, at least as a backup. If someone wanted to trade for him in the offseason, we could gain 1.5 mil in cap room though.
