I think Ireland want to ask him for the Purple Drank recipe

Well, I'm probably the only cat in Dolphinland who thinks Russell is worth a look so for me..why not..:shifty:
Way I see it, the talent that made him the #1 overall has not went away, his problem was always North of his neck, a yr out of the game who knows, maybe he straightened himself out?USArmyFinFan likes this. -

Besides KB if we add Russell and Young, I do not think there is enough prozac produced to mollify..:chuckle:
Now THAT would be a fun offseason..so, who should be the starter heading into camp, Young, Russel or Henne?
:jump: -
How about the Dolphins sign Russell, trade for Young and draft Newton? That would be worth it just to see KB's reactions. We got a black QB coach now, maybe this is a sign we are gonna be bringing in some black QB talent too. ;)

Well, the one lesson I've learned KB, about the way the NFL works, it is the entire league is a slave for talent and will go to ridiculous length to try and acquire the most talent at the lowest price which means if the #1 overall draft pick from 07 ( a draft imho Ireland feels they nailed their evals on) is available for a league minimum, they will take a shot on him.
That is the way the NFL works, I suspect Ireland believes his scouts and himself nailed the 05 and 07 drafts and they sort of specialize in players from that period of time..think about the players they brought in who were longshots and when they were draft eligible.
Wake, Francis, Polite etc.
Ireland nailed his 05 draft in Dallas and the way NFL scouting works is guys are graded then the process starts over..05-06-07..came to Miami in 08 meaning he has both Young and Russel's dossiers on file then it is a simple matter to compare what they thought then and where the player is at now, and see if whatever went wrong is fixable and worth the time.gunn34 likes this. -

Anyone know how I get in touch with this guy Shelton ? I want to ask him for some insider info on stocks and bonds. I am sure his info would be ' solid "

I see people are still buying OP's bs made up news stories with non working links to unknown sites (for legit football news). -
-
The place sorta looks like a "Bleacher Report" type endeavor, only for all types of news.
Not that this event didn't happen, but *Meh* Grain of salt. I'm not against bringing
JR in for a look see....But I'm not optimistic about what will result.unluckyluciano and padre31 like this. -
you should always try to bring in options for a look. I don't know that
Russell would have more or less upside than Thigpen, and
could probably last longer than a couple of snaps like Pennington.
Remember how many times we drafted QBs when we had
Dan Marino, who is arguably among the best of all time,
and is certainly considered elite?
Just off the top of my head; Mitchell and that tall kid from
Oregon I think. -

I agree with turning over every stone to get players.
I like what JJ had to say when he would bring in players even when he had top guys in that position. He said (paraphrasing) If he's better than the last guy on the depth chart, then the teams getting better. I love that. -

Sorry guys you can have all the physical tools in the world but if you dont have the mental game it doesn't matter how good of a passer you are. Young and Russell don't have what it takes between the ears. They have showed it time and time again. Young has the mentality of a 12 year old throwing a temper tantrum and quitting on his coach. Russell gets cut from football and NOBODY signs him, a former #1 pick!!! Then he gets busted sippin on some sizzurp. Wow lets sign this guy right now.
We have some people on here that are so desperate for a new QB they would take Paul Walker just because of all the amazing throws he made in Varsity Blues. I'm sure his knee has healed by now right?? -
Well, keep in mind finatic's OP was merely suggesting another workout for Russell, and the the issue with Russell and Young boiled down to maturity, not a lack of talent, which is something they themselves control and they can change overnight..if either one chooses to do so.
Which is why you bring them in for workouts and maybe some chalk board work to see where they are at physically and mentally.

Jamarcus Russel is a bum.
Vince Young is a baby.
Cam Newton is going to DOMINATE THE NFL!!! -
-
While I think Russell is done for in the NFL, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in to training camp as another body. Who knows, maybe he's focused on football now and is actually willing to realize his physical potential. I don't think it hurts anything to bring him to camp at least and see if there is anything salvageable there.
-
As a third string quarterback, I wouldn't mind.
-
Russell throws a beautiful deep ball, that sucker is a work of art, if his head is on straight then why not? -
As a third string, low salary guy, I absolutely don’t have a problem with Russell coming on board. I just wonder if our coaching staff can do anything with him.
-
they could draft the next jamarcus russell
-
There was an episode of ESPN:60 about Russell working with Ray Lucas to get fit and get his head back on straight. Not that I want JR or VY in a phins uni, but I would rather have them take a look at him instead of VY. hell, bring him in to training camp and see what he's got. If it doesn't work out, so be it. I don't know all of the rules so I ask: Can they bring him in for a private workout based on the current labor situation?

I had read that Jamarcus Russell was on our Radar
& the Fins would bring him in for a try-out in the near future
I read words pretty much to that affect from several sources
I have no problem with Jamarcus Russell, if the price is right, let him compete
as a matter of fact I'd love to see Henne, Thigpen & Russell go @ it
we need an offensive line & a running-game, fix what is available to fix -
We have a solid defense so I'd have no problem bringing in Russell to be our backup in a year where finding guys with NFL experience might prove difficult. If his head is on straight, then he should be plenty serviceable.

Not a big fan of Russell. If you go beyond his work ethic, which is poor IMO, I don't think he has the physical tools to succeed or live up to his billing. He's just not accurate nor does he have great touch. His decision making is nothing to write home about either IMO.
