Incarcerated Bob is hilarious on the radio here in NY, but is usually 50/50 on his sources.

That's what they said about the Red Sox, too.

Good moves by Philly. I wish we came close to making those.

That's an interesting secondary with Rodgers-Cromartie, Samuel and Asomugha.

Well big picture we still play him once this season, glad he did not make it to the Jets though, who I'd guess are left with Cromartie

And to think they also had Pro Bowler Joseph just one day ago.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Jets got into a bidding war with Dallas now over Cromartie? And Cromartie felt spurned?

Vincent/Taylor vs Asomugha/Rodgers-Cromartie (assuming Samuel is out)?

Eagles agreed to terms with CB Nnamdi Asomugha on a five-year, $60 million contract. The deal includes $25 million guaranteed.

The Eagles were lying in the weeds the whole time. The Jets are expected to turn their sights back to Antonio Cromartie, and the Cowboys will apparently keep overpriced, aging Terence Newman. The contract is more manageable than anyone could've anticipated to land this year's top free agent prize, so give Andy Reid and GM Howie Roseman a ton of credit. Philadelphia will now field arguably the best top-three cornerback depth chart in football along with Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. They already signed Jason Babin to upgrade the pass rush.

    This is INSANE.

and why can't a franchise in a warm climate, in a great place in which to be rich, with favorable tax laws and a storied franchise...pull crap like this off?

on a spree the eagles are...

Eagles agreed to terms with WR/KR Johnnie Lee Higgins on a one-year contract.

Once an explosive returner, Higgins has averaged just 7.2 and 5.2 yards on 51 punts over the past two seasons. This signing has the look of insurance against a protracted DeSean Jackson holdout.

i think that guy scored on us with some kind of return some years ago

Because we don't want to. I've finally figured this out. Ireland is content to use his ability to scout niche places and players (Davone Bess, Cam Wake), supplement them with "his guys" (Dallas-Miami pipeline), and field a nice little team. He doesn't want to make big splashes because he thinks he can scout guys who are nearly as good and cost 1/4th the amount.

I'm sure he looks at South Beach as a detriment, not an asset, to free agent recruiting. We've certainly avoided the kind of players who might want to spend time at South Beach, Kyle Orton aside.

I agree with you...except for the fact that we're not looked at as a contender. Everyone in the NFL knows that as long as Chad Henne is our QB, this team is nowhere near a Super Bowl!

    See: Ross, Stephen.

Ross had been agitating for months to get a receiver. He got his wish. That's one big reason why Ireland is safer than Sparano: Ireland listens to Ross once in a while and in return is given great leeway in roster construction. Brandon Marshall's presence on this team is notable because it's so far outside the norm of what Ireland has been associated with in the past.

Is Andy Reid retiring this year or something? This FA period almost feels like an "All-In Degree Moment" for the Eagles.

Howie Roseman, their GM, said months ago they were going big in free agency. This was planned and expected.

They also intentionally did not re-sign any of their free agents.

Unless you already have a cornerback that opposing teams never throw to like he's got the plague, Aso isn't a luxury but a massive upgrade. I really like what we have at CB but the truth is, Aso is better than the bunch combined. That's how good he is.

Really? Why would a top FA come to Miami? We're simply not considered to be a contender. Our QB throws more INTs than TDs. You can't win playoff games with a QB that is terrible. FA's wanna win playoff games.

Why not? They're now the favorites to win the SB if Vick stays healthy. Once Jackson is re-upped, the Eagles are in beast mode. They're going to be Madden juggernauts.

Now if Dallas can somehow sign Cromartie, the Jets defense takes a big hit.
