Well, sort of, we kind of need the Jets to be a good team to beat the patriots VF, while 45-3 or whatever it was last season was enjoyable, it better serves our interests if the Jets manage to split or sweep the patriots.
Don't think it would hurt the Jets too much this season if they lost both, though they could be worse off since they missed out on the other top Corners waiting for Asomugha, but they've lost a bunch of draft picks because of those moves. And now players like Sims-Walker are going. Have a feeling they'll get one, unless 49ers or Cowboys go after Cromartie big time.
I think we could still get a quality RB if they went after Edwards. Why not bring back Ricky Williams? He and Thomas pound it while Reggie does what he does best, try and make something big happen on the outside. We'll probably go for Barber since they love Cowboys, but would rather have Ricky than Barber. (As for Ronnie, just think he'll get a good deal someplace else.) Still don't think we'll go after Edwards seriously though. Would be nice to take him from the Jets, but don't see it happening. Could see him leaving the jets though.
Losing Edwards would be a bigger hit than you might imagine, while his numbers might not be elite he still commands much attention from defenses because of his size, speed and potential. Just having Holmes now as their only legit wideout would cripple their passing game and Sanchez and Jet fans know this and why they are on pins and needles right now.
That would be golden. Obviously whomever gives Edwards his next contract has to have heavy fines in there for inappropriate behavior. Dude does make plays though and we'd be better on offense, so I'd be all for it.
Plus he can share some Jets scheme secrets. Edwards is a good player. He certainly looked great against us last season.
Jason Allen was the worst defender on our unit, I have no idea why it took so damn long for his *** to get cut, or why it took so long for Sean to win the job, but damn did that guy lost games for us.
don't forget rook, your rookie running back has beautiful hands as well.. DThomas and Bush in the backfield together, oh the possibilities, the combination of their skillsets are sweet.
My only concern with him is it's clear he LOVES the nightlife and there is South Beach and all. Can we rely on him to be on his best behavior?
Yeah, plus I forgot he can be a homerun threat and can catch a bad pass. (We know Henne throws some of those, as did Sanchez). Wouldn't mind him on the Fins.
I can't go with this one! The Jets a my favorite enemy. No way do I root for them! Ever!! Unless it benefits Miami making the playoffs...
Even though we're shaky at QB, wouldn't Edwards joining make everyone feel better? Picture Revis covering Marshall. IF Cromartie returns he'd get Braylon...then whose got Bess, Fasano and Reggie Bush. Bush may not be a ground and pound guy, but he can be explosive in the open field and make plays. And if the Jets DONT get Cromartie, Kyle Wilson on Braylon? I'm just looking at the Jets, but having Marshall and Braylon would seem to open things up for Bush and Bess. I'm not keeping my hopes too high, but it seems like a 50% chance Dolphins might sign him.
If we sign this dude, Id take our five recievers over anybody else in football (other than maybe the Texans, because Dre is actually the God of WRs).
Would be funny if we get Edwards, who we told we were going to draft, but instead took Ronnie, and now we are most likely giving up Brown.
If you get him trade Hartline or Bess. Otherwise you lose out on your best options. Wild guess would be that they deal Bess if they sign Edwards which isn't a bad idea. Marshall is then in the slot, you have a deep threat Henne liked, and Hartline can stretch the defense against a slower CB. With Bush in the backfield chaos ensues for the other team. Also it shouldn't cost the team too much considering we deal Bess' salary away.
No way they trade Bess. Hartline...eh, maybe, but I think they would keep all 4. Unless they used Hartline as trade bait to boost the O-Line or something.
i think he would be a luxury that we really don´t need, rather put that money in the OL/OG and RB, another LB would also be nice, i guess we could fill all those positions with the "edwards money"
I would love to know about when it was ever talked about a Bess trade? We have watched him beat Revis and Nnamdii inside..
Or it gets dropped. But yeah, I am unsure myself if we should sign him, on one hand I always thought he was overrated as a receiver and not to mention we already have one major headcase at that position, but on the other hand trolling the Jets would be sooooo much fun.
No no it wasn't talked about official, just another poster said if they signed Edwards he thought they might trade Bess away. Which we know would not and should not happen.
really i mean beeing tied in a bidding war for 3 days, with the target deciding in the last minutes to go somewhere else, meanwhile holding up the operation on other free agents (who were their own free agents in Cromartie and edwards and who are pissed now, because they haven´t gotten the love in tha first place) and in the end signing for a much lesser amount everyone was thinking of and making the jets look silly.....well its rather....PRICELESS....lol
We play the Pats week 1, and I doubt our rookies will be able to contribute much that soon. So I wouldn't mind signing a physical, talented guy capable of making an immediate impact despite spending little time with the team. For me, that guy's Braylon. We could find easy ways to get him to ball in single coverage so that he can damage other defenses the way he did ours in 2010.
