This can be moved to the draft forum if need be, but rotoworld is reporting a rumor that the following violations occured at the combine:
Vontae Davis tested positive for Marijuana
    Percy Harvin- positive for marijuana
    Brian Cushing- positive for steroids
    Clay Matthews- positive for steroids

it's not a confirmed report but a rumor. scary though as we are most likely targeting a few of these players at our position

Why am I not surprised to see Cushing or Mathews on that list?

I don't understand how they can get caught doing this. Is it that hard not to smoke for a month leading up to the combine? They have to know it's gonna show up, I don't get it. For steroids, idk how long those stay in the system, but I mean come on.

Some steroids can show up in a piss test up to a year after use. Any dedicated steroid user in a position where they could be tested any time would be using a masking agent I'd suppose. Masking agents can prevent the steroids from showing up in a test. HGH though cannot be detected at all in a piss test and I think I read that some of the newer steroids also don't show up in such a test.
Even cycling regularly, there is no reason for either Cushing or Matthews to be caught if they exercise the right precautions.

My initial reaction is this is could be misinformation put out by some team or teams that would like any of these players to fall to when they pick later in the 1st round.

I think some players are ok with roids just so they make it to the NFL.
I mean the punishment is easier to handle when your raking in some monster cash.

It would seem logical to presume a team or teams between about 23 and 31.
:) Perhaps Billy B has been pining for Matthews and it was seeming to Bill his rising stock was maybe putting Clay into the teens. So what better way to temper that rising stock?

There was a rumor back in '83 that a certain team picking late in round 1 put out some rumors of cocaine use involving Marino, to get him to slide.

Look at the source. Rotoworld is horrible on getting info. I do not think this is true about any of them. All just rumors

    Apparently NFLDraftBible has some credibility.

The guy who used to run the site is now the GM for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

At any rate, I suppose the USC guys could have tested positive for masking agents rather than the steroids. The NFL treats masking agents the same as steroids and suspends you for it.

you can click on this link and search for it. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/

or you can read this convenient quote of the entire story.

Interesting tho, Mathews' agent's response was more of a, "we haven't been told of this". than an outright "there's no way he did this"...

BTW, I'm not leaning one way or the other - just noticed the wording...
