If I were Terelle, I'd tell my agent to stop referring to me as TP...

Well, I don't see how anyone who likes Cam Newton as a QB wouldn't like Pryor as well. They look a lot the same to me. If Newton is worth the 1st overall then Pryor should be worth a fairly high pick too. If we got him for like a 2nd or 3rd that would seem like good value. As athletic as he is, even if he didn't make it as a QB, and there are seldom guarantees at QB, he should be able to play somewhere.

Obviously you meant as players, but you didn't explain what they do that is similar. I saw Cam Newton dominate virtually every college game he played last year. I didn't see that out of Pryor. Yes, they're both 6-6 (although Cam's got about 20 pounds on Terrelle). Yes, they are both "athletic". However, Cam is head and shoulders better than Pryor.

I think Pryor is worth a late round pick as an athlete, a Wildcat type player that can help the team but he is a major project as a Qb. If we spent anything more than a 4th I think its a bad move.

He is very athletic but would be far from a starter maybe fight for the 3rd spot?Pandarilla likes this. -

Oh, well if his agent said it, it must be true.

Yes we should get him and Young and then we can start a circus, Cirque Du Phin.

Pryor has red flags that don't seem to harmonize with what this organization usually looks for. If true it almost looks like an act of desperation to me.

UUGGGGHHH!!!! Another athlete who can throw the ball. Big ????????? whoopdeedoo! I hope that people will at some point in the future, through some form of Lombardian revelation realize that what we need is a (insert appropriate naval language indigenous to Chiefs) quarterback, not another (insert slang for bovine excrement) project to take to raise! OY!!!
-OR-
I do hope that the Dolphins organization will be sometime linked with individual prospective football players who have a perceived greater possibility of success than with every player who for some reason has cause others to question the validity of such an assumption regarding them, notably with the most important position on the football offensive team.

Sweet, more WR competition is exactly what I asked for! I'm loving this off season so far. Pryor, Wallace, Pruitt, and Moore all competing for one job. This could be good.

Greg Linton does hear things. I could see the Dolphins being interested in Terrelle Pryor as a UDFA after he goes undrafted in the Supplemental Draft. I still do not see him being drafted high, if at all, in the Supplemental Draft.
I don't agree with the Cam Newton comparisons. In fact, if you really dig into the two players, Terrelle Pryor's shortcomings help to really accentuate why Cam Newton was a good prospect. Newton has been touted by teammates as a leader wherever he's gone, despite some people believing he's immature and/or "fake". Pryor has had teammates selling out on him wherever he's gone. I've heard now from at least three different sources connected with people in the Ohio State locker room that all his teammates hate him, they think he's arrogant, egotistical, selfish and has a bad work ethic. In this way, he is the complete opposite of Cam Newton, who was almost universally loved by the players in the locker room as well as people in and around the coaching staffs that have had to deal with him. Yes, there are some shared personality traits. They both love themselves and have high opinions of themselves, but that's where the comparisons end from a personality standpoint.
As far as their ability on the field, I'm really not sure how to compare them other than that they're both tall, black and fast. Pryor is actually faster, which is a good thing for him because he doesn't have a fraction of the natural throwing talent that Cam Newton possesses. He doesn't drive the football nearly as well. He doesn't have the same quick release qualities. He doesn't have near the same accuracy. He's got more experience from a dropback offense, that's it.
I believe the Dolphins could be interested in Pryor, as they're also interested in A.Froman and Jeff Van Camp. They're all big, fast guys with questionable throwing skills at this stage. But Froman has the intangibles you really look for and Pryor does not even come close, he's the closest thing to Vince Young that could be found among college football quarterbacks this year. On the other hand, Pryor has more experience than Froman and played at a higher level. The Dolphins remain far too loyal to the Wildcat and Wildcat 2.0 for my tastes, letting it bleed too much into personnel tendencies...and so it wouldn't surprise me if they're thinking that Pryor could be like a Brad Smith for them.DolfanJake, Frumundah Finnatic, MrClean and 2 others like this. -
I quoted on Twitter probably three weeks or a month back or so an NFC General Manager saying about Terrelle Pryor that in a pure character comparison with Ryan Mallett and Cam Newton, they "leave him in the dust, like not even out of the starting gate" or something along those lines.
And then you have an NFC Head Coach that said about Pryor: "Look, we all know how the college game works and what those [coaches] have to deal with, but this kid sounds like he didn’t give a damn about anybody," the coach said. "He was just there for himself. He didn’t even try to hide it. He flaunted it. If you’re like that, it’s hard to be a quarterback."
Oh and there's this gem:

"I just think he [Mike Vick] made a mistake, and I just think he needs more support I mean not everybody's a perfect person in the world. Everyone does- kills people, murders people and all types of- steals from you, steals from me, whatever I mean I just feel that people need to give him a chance. I always looked up to Mike Vick and I always will."

CK, I was about to post just from watching the Gruden QB Camps, that Cam Newton's character comes of 10 x's more sincere than Terrelle Pryor's. You've said basically as much from the two posts within the thread already. Just curious if you did watch Pryor on Gruden's QB Camp? If so, what'd you think? I was more impressed with Andy Dalton honestly.
I've heard a number of rumors about Pryor's lack of leadership and character just from friends at OSU who've bumped into him on campus and such. As an Ohio State fan, I'd just say that after having seen Pryor for 2-3 years, I wouldn't want him anywhere near the starting QB role on my team if I were a GM. -

I would like to see a Universal Draft scouting report on him .
As far as using a future draft pick on him you can take the view that this regime is on a short leash anyway so why not use future picks .
Also the Dolphins need to get some sexy signings in order to help lagging ticket sales .
Pryor would bring some excitement although personally I think he could just as likely turn out to be a coach killer as he was at the OSU. -

I agree bro.I would rather keep all of our picks but I am just saying that this regime may take that attitude .

The most impressive Gruden-QB thing this Draft season was Mallett's, in my opinion. It's no wonder just watching it led Brandon Marshall to exclaim that Mallett's going to be an All Pro. Guy knows his sh-t. I thought Newton's was disappointing. You can't even give me an Auburn play call? Really? Luckily, if you're letting that awkward exchange affect your draft decision then you're probably acting as frivolously as the Dolphins did when they dismissed Sam Shields as a UDFA prospect because they asked him who our DBs Coach was and he didn't know, hadn't researched it beforehand. Guy started in the Super Bowl and made plays. Who looks like the idiot there? Anyway, I'm rambling.
Also, Alen here has said before and I believe him that his contacts say that the outgoing Ohio State seniors all badmouthed Pryor as an arrogant, egotistical, selfish guy with a bad work ethic. I've heard from two other people that know people in the program said the same thing. NFC General Managers are saying the same thing, NFC Head Coaches are saying the same thing...at this point there's a lot of corroboration.
With Mallett it was all about these untalked about secret incidents that few people knew about, and yet only the one very minor arrest and no official failed drug tests, solid family, lots of team and coach support, etc.
With Newton it was about "He just rubs me wrong, he's fake" and yet talk to any of his teammates or coaches at Blinn or Auburn and they'd step in front of a bullet for the guy, and he led his team to a national title (with very little doubt about who was the top dog on the team, the team's biggest leader, etc).
With Pryor it's full on "This guy's a jerk, ask anyone that's been around him since high school." And you only hear crickets when you're trying to find people close to him to defend him (aside from his agent).Frumundah Finnatic, MikeHoncho and RoninFin4 like this. -

Someone pointed out that the Browns have a young, outstanding Center, and young all pro left tackle, and it has gotten them nowhere, this regime does not seem to "get it" when it comes to somethings. -

So we want Pat White again - but worse? REALLY?
