http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescr...-running-back-on-the-trade-block/Default.aspx Swap firsts for Marion Barber? I might be ok with that.
Ronnie Brown is probably on the block...We may be looking to trade up, or acquire more picks; or acquire a player. But my hunch is it's Ronnie...
I don't see it. Well I can see it but not with swapping first round picks. Here is my thinking on why. Picking 12th is in the golden zone. Low enough where we wont have to break the bank and high enough to where we will get a top notch talent. Secondly as decent as Barber is running backs are among the easiest positions to plug and play. Now add to that the fact we have a solid offensive line allowing us to plug in most any back and be successful. So if he's heading to Miami I doubt it would cost us exchanging 1sts.
I can see the logic behind your thinking but with him coming off a season ending injury and not able to pass a physical yet I highly doubt it.
well, since we have no security at RB past this year, i'd say this is a decent way of addressing that issue without losing a draft pick.
Yep, I STRONGLY agree with this. Barber would be the number 4 back on our roster at this point. To say he has dropped off a cliff is putting it very mildly.
Losing two favorite players JT and Ronnie at the same time would be a little too much to take for many fans.....including me.
And why in the hell would we possibly need Marion Barber? We have Ronnie Brown and if we want to see about finding a replacement for him one can be found in the mid to late rounds of the draft. Running backs in this league are a dime a dozen, and Marion Barber is not a special RB, IMHO.
Its got to be Marshawn Lynch...prob heading to San Diego...its not Barber and highly doubtful in Ronnie
Moving down 14 spots in the draft according to the value chart is huge....so essentially we would be giving up a 2nd and a 4th for Marion Barber? Yea I'll pass.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...trading-block/ This article also says it 'isn't' Barber... it could be Brown, but the deal is there really isn't anyone else behind him...the Troika would never rely on just Williams and Cobb. The best guess is either Lynch in Barfalo or Portis in DC, although I don't know who'd really want Portis...but Shanny has traded him once before...
while i don't think it would be RB ..... you could never discount that. why, with Henne and a solid O-Line, we can move back towards a more conventional offense ... now, do i want an Offense whose primary RB is RW .... um, not really. so, that in turn could put Spiller or Matthews in the picture in rd 1 (which of course, would be atypical for this regime) .... i guess, look at it this way .... RB will likely demand a large $$$$$ next year, and being oft injured -- this regime is not likely to give it to him .... so trade him now and get max return on him .... but again, it would mean that there is a plan B already in the works. the good news is ... there are options out there .... several actually - not including the draft.
HELL NAH We dont want Barber for swapped picks Better put some Austin sauce on that deal and then were talking I still want Earl thomas
There is no way I'd rank Barber behind Cobbs or Lex. His yardage, average and yards after contact all compared favorably with R&R the past couple seasons. Looking at 2009, how does over 900 yards at a 4.4 clip equate to dropping off a cliff?
barbers a good back. HIs only problem is he is sure to break down soon with all the contact he makes.
Marshaun Lynch.......and no way I do that trade for swapping first and getting Barber....Gish you smoking crack again bro??
Well, let me put it to you THIS way, He is currently the 3rd back in Dallas now. His forte has been tough running and tough yards, very much like Lou Polite. He was stonewalled repeatedly this last season...repeatedly. His body has taken way too much of a pounding because of his style. Talk around here is that anything they can get for him is something..anything. To suggest he is still a Pro-Bowl calibur RB is not accurate at all.
Agreed, he was a Pro Bowl back a couple of years ago, no doubt, but all that pounding has already done its damage. That's why as much of a fan I am of Ricky, i gotta admit he is no longer an every down back because he still runs through people and still isn't afraid of the contact. We all noticed it wears him down towards the end of the game. I mean he could be an every down back, but for only 1 half and then he's done till next week lol.
Who suggested that? Not I. I said that 900 yards and a 4.4 average does not equate falling off a cliff. His avg yards after contact were better than Choice last season, 2.8 to 1.9. In 2008 they were even at 2.4. His 2.8 is better than Ricky in either of the last two seasons. It is the same as Ronnie's 2008 avg and just behind his 3.0 avg in 2009. If he is the 3rd back, how come he played by far the most snaps between he, Jones and Choice? 552 compared to 267 and 285. If he is the 3rd back, why did he have the most carries, 214 compared to 116 and 64? I am not nor ever suggested he is an All Pro or Pro Bowler. I'm only suggesting that to say he has fallen off a cliff performance wise amounts to so much hyperbole. The numbers do not bear that out.
This is true. Many Cowboy fan's I know can't stand how he falls on first contact. This wasn't the case earlier in his career as he welcomed it for the most part. Now people are thinking and wondering why he's gun shy or afraid to get hit.Or so it seems to them.
No one in their right mind would trade for Clinton Portis. Marshawn Lynch is the favorite. Barber has proven that, as part of a committee, he can be incredibly productive per touch. He would be the perfect candidate to replace Ricky, assuming the price is right.
i would love to trade ronnie brown if we could do that and be able to move up to get eric berry that would be great. ronnie is not dependable and is due to get paid real soon get what you can for him now
I wouldn't mind seeing Ronnie let go for the right price, I'm not as attached to him as some other people on here. I think we need someone more durable that can be the face of our running game, and not the magic show formally known as the wildcat. Ronnie can be great at times, but would probably be a much better fit for another team.
