Heh, I guess my Elite could still be considered as gotten cheap ($450 including black controller, charge kit, 2 games, 360 Harmony Remote).
Can't happen quickly enough. And the price drop after that really can't happen quickly enough, because that's what I'm holding out for before I buy a 360. Of course, by then they'll have announced the 720 or whatever.
Forza 2 maps better become free or get cheaper then, because it would cost me more I bet to buy the new maps as opposed to trading my current game in and using that as credit for the PH version when it comes out.
Now if they would make Live Silver with free online play (nothing else) I would make the jump (I say that all the time). This will put the pressure on Sony even more.
I don't think they will ever make XBox Live free to play online, they have 5 million paying subscribers or something like that.
If PSN keeps upgrading I think they will. They will make Live Silver to where you can play online but that's it. No demo's, etc.
aqua get one in september...they wont make it free because they don't need to..why make something free when people are paying 50 dollars??
I understand people are willing to pay for it now but in a year with the upgrades PSN is undergoing I could see people saying well I can pay for Live or get PSN for free and then going with the PS3. The gap between PSN and Live is starting to close and when it does close I think Live will make Live Silver free with online play only or they may do it earlier to cut PSN off at the pass.
people aren't going to go buy a ps3 just cuz its free online...they save more money just playing xbox live for 50 a yeaer
How is that exactly? Taking into account September prices of the 360 console prices: $199 arcade 360 would take 4 years to = PS3 price at $399 but people with an arcade 360 can't really enjoy online gaming anyway so throw that out the window. $299 pro 360 if you have it 3 years you have paid $449 which is $50 more than the PS3 $399 elite 360 if you have live 1 year you have paid $449 which is more than the PS3. So other than the arcade 360 you can't argue that you would save money with the 360 and Live over the PS3. Actually because of PSN the PS3 becomes the cheaper system over time. Therefore people would gravitate towards the PS3.
but people already have 360s are going to keep paying...i dont know about most people but i'd rather keep paying 50 dollars then go buy a ps3 just for free online gaming
thats still not gonna stop them from making it free...5 million customers will still pay...the profit off of xbl must be crazy
Yeah well we all aren't rich like you. If they are losing profits by people going with the PS3 I think they would do it. People would still have to pay for Xbox Live Gold, which would be most people since people want demos, etc. Yet by making Live Silver with online play free it would give extra reason for people to get a 360. In fact by bringing more people in they would make more money because most would eventually move up to Xbox Live Gold.
Pretty good stuff, could be a fake but I doubt. These are great prices for the 360 and it could move systems (that is unless the 360 has hit its peak as far as adopters). The PS3 like I said before will have to sweat about this one.
nice, I may pick up an arcade unit just to replace the one I keep sending back for repairs. I'm on number 4 now. The last one they sent me only lasted 6 days.
Yah their customer service is a major frustration. I have to start a new gamer tag because I don't have my credit card anymore (not keeping credit cards period) but I didn't realize that Microsoft would keep trying to bill that card instead of doing the smart thing and knocking me down to Silver automatically. Buggers won't let me pay it off with a 3 month card that I already paid for and threatened to send my whole $10.80cdn charge to a collection agency which I told them to go ahead since it will be dismissed by the fact they refused payment with the already paid for card. Bastards.
well, I just got my 'fixed' xbox yesterday, plug it in, and guess what, IT FROZE up during the welcome select your language. And when I finally got through all that crap it freezes up like every 6 minutes. This will be the 3rd repair this month! I will probably never buy another microsoft product. as much as I like their games, this is rediculous.
Well I've had mine since nearly the beginning so I might cave when finances are better and get the arcade to replace my current one as mine has drive issues that lead to some freezing (you can literally hear the drive loudly grind to a halt for times). I figure at $200 I can just get the arcade and swap the harddrive onto it since it's like $150 to get it repaired and you have no idea what you'll get. At least the newer ones are much more stable. Microsoft just screwed up in trying to rush out ahead of Sony as the first Xbox was like a rock.
People interested in the entry-level are going with one of the portables or the Wii. The 360 simply is not an entry level device, and the fact that Microsoft has to offer a stripped-down version to get to that price point proves it. I'll wait for the next hardware revision--a scale-down to 32nm planned for 2009--before I hop on the 360 bandwagon. Plenty of cross-platform titles to go around, and the 360's exclusives just don't interest me.
