I don't think it was ill advised. NFL.com has a good replay showing Stills downfield, looks like he has his man beat heading for the endzone, but as Moore is hit (and by hit I mean destroyed) the ball ends up underthrown as he cant step into it. Kenny Stills then does a great job adjusting and coming up with the catch. End result is positive, but I think if the hit doesn't come to Moore, he's got a chance to hit Stills in the endzone there, unless there was a safety lurking, which really couldn't be seen in the replay. Gutsy though. I like this playing to win attitude we've had this year on offense when it's been crunch time.

Fair enough. I'll take your word for it.

I think the great play credit is really more deserved by Kenny Stills here for the way it turned out by adjusting to that underthrown ball, which again was only underthrown IMO because of the hit Moore takes. It takes balls to stand in there and take that kind of shot man.

I'm just glad we won the damn game. I would have hated to drop a game we led 21-9 fairly late.

Again, read some stuff on those last few plays that pointed to Moore doing some good things.

We have a chance man. It's Gase! He's the guy I trust.

Honestly, Fede was pblic enemy #1 on that reverse, can't have a DE sucked in like that, they have to box/bubble/contain....I coach it to my 9 year old kids. A middle linebacker, I am less worried about, that's tough to get off the block and get there....Also Rambo took a horrendous angle on that play. All around, bad effort.

Im with you here. Gotta trust Gase will put Moore in a position to succeed while not relying on him too heavily at the same time.

yeah the de has to stay home and play contain assignment there if he did get sucked inside I don't know if there was some game the cards played or not to get him to take those false steps inside other than the strong side action but the lb level is the next line of defense and even with having a guy get to him (which is highly lb driven athletically laterally limitations wise and probably a couple false steps inside to the bait action) hull has to get there and limit the gain. last week they ran a reverse and hull met it laterally for a 5 yard gain...he dove to make the tackle ball almost got by his level and he even keyed it pretty early and athletically still barely got there...if Rambo took a bad angle that doesn't surprise me

anyways I deleted that tape when tanny came back out crying on the sideline...at that point I wanted nothing to do with another game look

you guys are gonna find the ball goes by hull in space more than it should...that and his instincts are overrated frankly...given the athlete which is poor as a nickel option especially...poor at the poa poor with the take on and shed poor at the goalline poor in any carry coverage. but he does at least look ready for nfl contact this year. last year in the preseason he played like a paper weight on contact

I'm not sure what Miami will do with kiko back but I doubt they move kiko from the mike...I doubt he endorses it...but I can tell ya that paysinger stuff and all that zone at the lb level will get torched if miamis d line doesn't dominate the los and eat on the qb

the lb level right now doesn't have a feel for route concepts in zone or get proper depths and teams will exploit it like the ravens did. especially a team with a legit tight end which the zona guy Gresham is jag

the fact that jelani hasn't been 100 percent has put a target on our lb level and stressed kiko too much to try and make up for a lot of limitations in the corp.

I guess I just can't agree. I feel like he made a good decision -- Stills was open -- but couldn't get enough arm on the throw due to the guy clobbering him in the face.

But to say it was an ill-advised throw... I don't see how you can say that. He completed it -- pretty decisively -- even unable to make a good throw on it. Moore made the right decision on that play, and that's not just judging the results.

The question I have is rooting for a QB that plays for the Dolphins mutually exclusive? If I want Matt Moore to do well, will that mean I hate Ryan Tannehill? Can I hope that they both play well when they are in the game, or is that against the rules?

That throw by a Moore, to me, looked like he chucked up an of balance prayer because he was about to get smoked. Turned out fine, only cause of the weather. I think 9 times out of 10 that ball is picked off.

Good question. If I remember right, he has a decent arm, but it might pale in comparison to Tannehill's. RT has been really throwing the ball well this year!

yeah matt moore did just throw that 29 yarder up and it was a dying quail frankly but he did id the blitz and the singled up wr pre to post snap in the process

good adjustment by stills on the ball in the air too...but what you have to worry about is when he gets blitzed and he doesn't see it with clarity and he just throws it up there which I have seen more than enough instances of and dbs pretty much fair catch the ball

throwing without clarity is one of his biggest bug a boos as a qb...he's susceptible to slot back side blitzers and a gap show drop outs where the lb level undercuts the bait in cut routes vs off coverage designed to make the qb think he has an easy completion vs "blitz"

he can also be late outside the #s with the ball...best ball he throws is the drop in the bucket vertical

matt moore has the same doesn't account for the backside slot show blitzer pre snap with the protections etc that mark sanchez has/had and it's a big deal

take the deep drop and get hit from the backside with absolutely no clue that the show man is coming...and he'll even look at it pre snap sometimes and still not account for it just like sanchez

this is probably a good thing for dvps chances though cause you can bet that whereas tannehill would id the coverage pre to post snap and come off dvp on some verticals matt moore is gonna let it fly for better or worse

Not sure what arm strength has to do with it. He threw a lazy pass in a panic, and got lucky that due to the weather, the corner couldn't react. Even luckier thar Stills was able to grab it.

Don't get me wrong, I was shouting in excitement, but it's not something I want to see him do very often.

Disagree completely. You see the DBs back and you let it fly. Not only was it a nice catch by Kenny it was also a DPI. Vet toss.

Most important thing going forward is maximizing what we have. Hopefully we get Pouncy back soon. That'd be a huge boost to our run game. We need him and Parker especially to carry a lot of weight.

Getting Xavier Howard back would also be pretty amazing.

Yeah, he reminds me a Chad Pennington. Could be we're so used to seeing Tannehill fling it everywhere with ease, too.

We see it differently. I agree with the idea your putting forward, I just don't think it was a good throw. Moore was trying to make something happen, which I like, but that was such a lame duck looping throw...that's easily picked if he ever tries that again.

Dude, it was pouring down rain. I think Tannehill threw the worst pass I've ever seen. Somehow these guys are making the plays needed to win. I'm all for it.

Yes, I know Tannehill lost the ball on that pass, and it was awful. That doesn't make Moore's decision to heave up a prayer while getting smashed a good decision.

I'm just saying, plays like that are why Moore was a turnover machine last time he really played.

You serious right now? The coverage was there for it and Stills had the defender (a backup) on ice skates. Took some balls to actually be aggressive in that situation - especially considering Moore being thrust into action. He more than likely would have led Stills, but got hit hard while releasing the ball.

As a side note, man when Tannehill went down and then we gave up the double digit lead - I remembered the tortured nature of our collective Dolphin fanhood. It had been a while just because I don't like to let myself get that emotionally involved. I felt so badly for Tanny and the timing couldn't be any worse, but glad that after further evaluation it's not a complete tear.

mando has an article out where he compares tannehills situation to rg3s as if rg3s knee injury is why he failed as a qb or something

come on mando outside of not regaining 4.4 flat speed for the zone read that has nothing to do with it

I am hopeful Gase can help Moore like he has helped Tannehill. It's not going to happen overnight, especially with our short week, but maybe in time he can help Moore take care of the football better. IMO, as much as we all would like Moore to just hand the ball off to Ajayi and let him win it for us I don't think that's going to happen. The Jets D will be expecting that and they are stout as it is. Moore is going to need to play complimentary football and throw the ball well when he has to for us to win.
