That is the initial 2010 metric, let's see who we have on the roster who could surprise:
Ikaika Alama-Francis Hawaii 2007 DET 58 10.9 1.0 (7.0*)
1 sack over his first 5 yrs...he lacks explosiveness, maybe an offseason working on it will help him but that is a pure leap of faith
Rob Rose:

2011 version:
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/ramblings/2011/sackseer-lets-try-again
Rose does hit some of the metrics, his 20 yd shuttle run is a solid 4.44/ 40 time 4.75 where he falls down is in Vertical Leap 27.4 and long jump at 9.02, he also does not have starting experience at OSU, inow, he is a project you hope to get lucky with and develop, he did his drills at 294, if he drops 25 pds...who knows?
AJ Edds:
4.34 20 yd short shuttle/35.5 vertical leap/10.0 broad jump, he also hits on the games started metric as well, hmm..but he was not known as a passrusher at Iowa, but that raw metric is in there,
Odrick:
4.44/8'10/29 inches
Not bad, considering SackSeer was meant for OLB's and 4-3 De's,
A guy we passed on this offseason whom I thought we could use as a nickel DE:
FWIW:
So atm, we need Edds and Odrick to live up to their SackSeer projections, and hope that Rob Rose or Ike Francis metamorphisize into something that is completely unsupported, it COULD happen, but..come on man..grasping at straws.
Koa Misi said he is going to work on his passrushing skills in the offseason..let us hope he does so effectively otherwise B14 is right we will not have a strong, organic passrush outside of Cam Wake.
Open for suggestions, a part of me is intrigued by Javon Kearse working out with Crowder and Co this offseason...

Wake with his 45.5 vertical,,,jeeez louise...I watched him on this play in the jet game where he ran down Sanchez on the sideline after Sanchez had a 15 yard head start..
That guy has legit 4.5 speed, maybe better..
Why the hell isn't he on field goal attempts with that vertical, at least the important ones..
The Odrick Langford battle should be epic this year..Odrick can rush the passer giving him an edge...Hong kong Phuey got some hands..He should be excellent from that position in passrush situations.
Misi hopefully is getting bigger, stronger, faster, let him work on those moves cause his instincts are really good.
Does Phillip Hunt have a brother Mike....Mike hunt..you know that dude right? -
Looks like it is down to Edds/Odie/Misi to up the passrush Deej, unless they sign a UDFA that surprises everyone.
I do think that the trend is to find Cb/Nickel backs who can get after the passer as well Deej, as in Will Allen?
Seems like A Gap and Db blitzes are the new "must have" on defense, with 3 Wr's sets on the field 48% of the time you need guys who are good at coming off of the corner and Will Allen can do that, that Mark Restelli from the CFL certainly did some of that in the CFL and Jim Wilson has the makings of a good Db blitzer.
Basically, imho teams are looking for the next Charles Woodson.

Goodness, did we not have a good year from the nickel positiom, it was our weakest position...
Making a mistake out of desperation and trading Greg C showed how bad we were...Late year signing of Al Harris shows the same desperation...
There's some solid hope there Will be healthy after giving his body a nice long rest...The body at 32 is just fine for speed and explosiveness if he's right.. -
Davis
Smith
Allen
Carroll
Sapp
With Wilson pushing Sapp, whose real value is he can play Cb or Safety and Nickel Cb.
Good pieces to have but still, would look better if we had an OLB with upside as depth, I'd suspect if Wake went down Koa would move to the Will, and Ike/Rose/Edds to Sam, or maybe Edds moves to the Will which would be an interesting move, I suspect he is one of those Calvin Pace types of players, good all around Lb but never really topping 10 sacks per yr...I hope.
Just looking at the roster you can see they were serious about getting Edds/Odie/Allen back is looked at like a 2nd draft for the Defense and a FA signing. -
I do like looking at Will Allen like that, a Vet Cb brought in to compete, but Edds to me is probably the one addition who will offer the most clear upgrade, do not know if he will play OLB or ILB but he has a nice skillset and we can use the depth.
Edds also has those solid SackSeer metrics.
Pity Chris McCoy washed out he would have been perfect for a developmental OLB role./ -
I'am gonna go watch some film on our new draft pick AJ Edds....lol
I like what Odrick did in that bills game but I have no idea about Edds..He really is an extra draft pick. -
Yeah Bro, Edds had maybe 16 reps of 225 or some other horribly low number he has that long body type that just has problems with the bench press.
As for Odie, eh, Merling is in that mix as well. -
BTW Deej, have not seen anyone mention this but recall all of the folks who were upset when we traded a #3,#5 and #7 to trade up to draft Daniel Thomas?
Well think about this, lockout wipes out TC, how many Rooks could they bring in and give them any practice reps anyway? By disposing of those picks in exchange for a Starting Rb they freed up time to implement things with the guys they already have..
A Rb can play Day 1 90% of the time, unless blitz pickups are just foreign to them... -
http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/03/16/pass-rushing-productivity-3/
BTW Koa finished #2 in the NFL among rookies in Pass Rush Proficiency, only Brandon Graham was ahead of his 9.53% of the time he put pressure on the Qb, for context Kracken was at 12.14% of the time, that is a good sign for Koa moving forwards, Wake had 453 rushes and Koa had 253. -
His instincts get him in position for sacks, not his pass rush ability...Solid as hell though everywhere else.. -
I don't think we should really expect Edds to be anything other than a role player. He might be really good at that job, but I don't expect him to be a starter. He's likely a career substitute, and not particularly noteworthy in terms of run defense or pass rush.
He might be a really good coverage linebacker, though. There aren't a lot of guys with his instincts or his ball skills at linebacker, or his experience basically playing as a cornerback in some situations.Stringer Bell and Frayser like this. -
-
Which has Edds as solid prospect to put some heat on the Qb. -
Stringer Bell, Frayser, Disgustipate and 1 other person like this.

We have Bell coming in at Crowders spot on third down while Smith takes Bells spot at safety so how is Edds gonna take Bells spot....I love Bell as that Hybrid coverage linebacker...
Question for y'all, How does a bigger slower player improve that position on 3rd down? I mean are we better off schematically if Edds is in there over Bell? -
-
-
What do we think about Ybell in that role, is it out of necessity? or is it a strength of ours because he can drop down in that area and he's big enough to handle it? -
IMO, he could also be the SAM, and Misi move inside next to Dansby. Yeah, Misi has never played there yet, but his role as a rookie was different too than what he did at Utah. I just see Misi as the kind of player who can handle any position that his size and physical skill set lends itself to. -
The moves last year came out of necessity, and what we decide to do this year will largely depend on that as well. If Will Allen can step up, then I can see us utilizing Smith at safety and on TEs as we saw some of last year. But I ultimately believe that Smith will prove too valuable of a corner to swap around. And that is where Edds comes in. I think the combination of Dansby and Edds will prove great out of the nickel. But should one of them struggle or have injury issues, its great to have the flexibility to pull Bell down into that cover linebacker role. Another guy that I, personally, expect to start making contributions in this area is Reshad Jones. I liked the kid coming out of UGA and thought we saw flashes of an NFL player when he was on the field last season. With Bell not getting any younger, Reshad just might represent the future at that SS spot.
I expect Sean Smith to be the most improved player on defense. I think we saw the light coming on for him last year, and I think the drops will work themselves out. As they do, his confidence will grow. I just see a big year coming for him. After that, I'm really excited for the contributions I expect to see from Reshad, Edds, and Odrick. They don't have to play like superstars, but if those guys can come in and man their roles adequately we will have already gone a lone way to addressing any flaws we may have on defense.djphinfan likes this. -
What bothers me though, is there is no specialist, a guy who does two things well, rushes the passer, and is a ST daemon, we do not have anyone like that ATM. -
I think Edds could certainly be an improvement over Bell in terms of coverage. He's probably slower than Bell, but it ain't really a foot race. He's got instincts Bell doesn't. He's a ballhawk, will jump routes where Bell will typically just try to seperate the receiver from the ball. He's also not giving up height to many tight ends and isn't particularly physical but has experience playing on the line in coverage in a position to jam or redirect players.
Stringer Bell likes this. -

Our new boy Gates has similar leaping ability..Youtube Gates broad jump, you wont believe your eyes.
Look at Wakes Rhomboid area in that picture, their like big hunks of meat...Best body in the NFL...4.5 speed..46 inch vertical, probably 32 reps on the bench..
I say we move up in the top 5 to take him in this draft...lol -
I don't think it's that extraordinary that Edds would be better than Bell as a coverage ILB. He's probably not faster than Bell, but it's not a foot race. Bell does a pretty decent job staying with a defender, but he's not particularly good at making an interception, and his best option for disrupting a pass is not so much reading and disrupting the route as it is separating the receiver from the ball.
Edds just has really good instincts in coverage that most NFL players regardless of position don't have.djphinfan likes this.
