Sad day: Dwayne Wade's Restaurant closes

i would like to see dwayne wade last another 10 yrs. now that would be a sight. get a big man and maybe you can talk.

 

A) get a coach, a good perimeter player, a good rotation PF, some better fans, a new arena, a better city and then WE can talk.

or..

B) just win a championship.

This is the issue: Orlando is pretty much at their peak right now. They're not going to have the cap space to add a significant piece to the puzzle for quite some time. You're going to be stuck with a core of Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, and Hedo for the next few years. Is that a good enough core to compete with teams like Boston, LAL, San Antonio, New Orleans, etc.? Um, I'd have to say "no" and stand by that answer with all my pride. Maybe if the supporting cast was superb, but it's not.

Miami on the other hand, already has a superstar in Dwyane Wade and another guy who has the potential to be one in Michael Beasley. Miami will also be a MAJOR player (most likely have the most cap space) in 2009 and/or 2010 - depending on how much we spend next summer. I'll take the potential to have the next "Big 3" over mediocre stability. No question.

Orlando should be better than Miami for one or two more seasons. Have fun with that. It'll be the only thing to brag about, because they won't even compete for a title.

The above statement makes zero sense. It's not like Miami wasn't a better team in the late-90s than Orlando is right now. Miami Heat is a more successful organization than the Orlando Magic even if you remove what happened in 2006. We've had many "relevant" seasons if you're going to call losing in the second round "relevant"

He has had one injury. he has missed time ONCE in his career due to injury.

I don't think you get the point. We're not trying to go from 15 wins to 52 or 53. We're trying to improve. Anything over 35 wins is a successful turn around when you're coming from a 15 win season.

But I'd rather trail in the standings for one season than trail in the championship banners hanging up in the arena. No doubt. That's the funny thing.. Lakers fans can come in here and brag. Celtics fans can. However, Magic fans don't even deserve the right. Orlando's franchise hasn't proven anything in its history.

 

3 game improvement is attainable

I really didn't someone to bring it up but unfortunately you guys did. You guys say its only one injury. He's never played more than 77 games in a season. Over his career, he has played in 56, 77, 75, 50, and 49 games. How is that one year? (and I'm not saying this in an arrogant tone, rather a questioning tone)

 

you might want to double check that. You got to the Eastern Conference finals once, and lost. Other than that you got beat the other 3 years in the first round.

 

I've yet to see anyone dissect one of my posts in here and prove a point, though.

We'll resume this conversation when Orlando becomes relevant in the sports world, i.e. adding a title banner to the Amway Arena. Until then, such a franchise is second class at best. Orlando's biggest franchise accomplishment is "being the team that drafted Shaquille O'Neal"

Where did I state that Miami has made consistent NBA Finals appearances? I merely stated that Miami has had teams in the late-90s that were better than the 2007-2008 Orlando Magic. What does advancing to the NBA Finals have to do with that?

That's what I posted in the Heat thread. I'm not a fan of the Heat or the Tragic but I rather watch the Heat. How am I a hypocrite?

first season he was a rookie..he was on the DNP coaches decision list a alot.

the 50 game season was the only season he missed time due to injury. he still came back for the playoffs.

Last season was Operation Beasley. He could have played all of those games if he wanted to. Same with marion.

Still stands. he has had ONE injury and missed time from it.

 

almost as bad as Grant Hill!

 

It is not even close...NOT EVEN CLOSE as to which franchise has a better history. Not even in the same ballpark.
