How is this doom and gloom from Mike Dee? It's an Armando Salguero article, and the quotes from Dee aren't anything new, nor are they really all that exaggerated with "sky is falling!" type talk, unlike Salguero's stuff.
-
Thinking about it though, LA desperately wants a team for their shiny new Farmer's Field...
I wonder if they will offer Ross somewhere near 1.5 billion or more for his team just to have a team.
But as I said I highly doubt the NFL approves relocation. -
I see more negativity being directed towards Mike Dee, when in reality, all the negativity should be directed at the politician. He was the one who single handily took the decision out of everyone's hand.
Dolphins are rightly upset at how this transpired, that they said things perhaps they should have waited for cooler heads, perhaps. However, the ire and disappointment of everyone should be directed at the person who acted as if only he knew what was best for all.Bpk likes this. -

I mean, I don't really think Mike Dee told Armando to write "My parents came to this country to avoid such things". Armando is a journalist. It's his job and his duty to inform himself of how the process works, and to then explain it to the masses (his readers) and give his opinion, as this is an editorial.
It's Doom And Gloom from Armando Salguero, period. May have influence from Mike Dee, but let's try to be accurate in our titles :) -
I think it's pretty clear the Dolphins are out on on a scare tactics campaign. What they say is calculated. What they have an Armando Salguero say is probably calculated as well, and Armando is more than willing to play ball for access. He's proved that in the past. Additionally, I think Armando truly believes what he writes, I think he's upset the vote was taken out of voters' hands.
They're trying to get away with something right now, walking a thin line. The Dolphins could move because of this, so you as fans should do everything in your power to assure that doesn't happen (and that starts with showing up to games). But the Dolphins moving is not imminent, so you shouldn't be so discouraged that you don't think there's anything you can do about it (including show up to games).
What I don't get is that the switching of gears basically cancels out the attitude of positivity that they've been trying to cultivate in the fan base this off season, with the re-branding and the big free agent moves, the big draft move they made, etc. Instead of trying to get the fan base excited about Dolphins football, they're getting the fan base fearful that Dolphins football is going away. You've got to be careful with that because in that environment of fear and negativity, losses will be associated with the chances of the team leaving Miami. A losing team will be seen as a team spiraling further downward and eventually out of Miami.
And now that Miami has the Heat to keep them happy...maybe some people that wouldn't have been OK with that before, might start to be.Bpk, CANDolphan, Tin Indian and 2 others like this. -
There is no "they". There is no potential owner. AEG is in the facilities development business, not the team owning business. In fact, the only guy in LA with interest in actually owning a team is Ed Roski, but he hates the downtown LA site and wants to build on land he coincidentally owns in City of Industry, CA. The NFL unfortuanately for him hates that site and has blocked him from buying the Jaguars already specifically to avoid that site.
Here is the inconvenient truth. It doesn't matter to the NFL whether they are ever in LA again or not. LA is far more useful as a foil and scare tactic than it is valuable as an actual market. The tv contracts reflect this. They wouldn't be appreciably higher with LA then they are now.Ohio Fanatic likes this. -

Shiny new Farmers Field?
Contingencies remain before ground is even broke on the project.
It's still a concept.
You make it sound like it's been built. -
Colin Cowherd just talked about us re-locating on ESPN. I'm worried about this, fellas.

Phins aren't going anywhere. They will try to scare us into thinking so, but the reality is, they aren't going anywhere.

One thing I know is that it would make absolute no sense to relocate the Dolphins to LA. How would they adress the chaos of moving a Team in the AFC East 3,000 miles away from their rivals?
I would be more concerned if a city like Richmond was flirting with the idea of courting a franchise to move there. LA stealing a team from Miami does not sound realistic to me unless they are prepared to reorganize the divisions. -
All it takes is one ambitious city that decides they are willing to spend a couple of billion to get an NFL team. -
-
If they were, they wouldn't have made the concessions they did nor would they be in full on attack mode now. If moving was a viable solution to them, they wouldn't be doing the things they've done. -
-
If these tactics are premeditated, then maybe they have a plan of getting these renovations done? -
The NFL & the Dolphins only goal at this point is to oust that guy and to further use this situation to drum up public support for when its brought up again. -
I have seen single handedly how much money the city of Miami and the state in general waste . This was a win / win prospect from all angles. I am a die heart Dolphins fan , but I almost want to see them leave just so those in Government that allowed it get punished. Ross needs to Ear mark $Millions now towards all campaigns that include people AGAINST who let this happen. He needs to play Billionaire ball and play it smart.

I think the Marlins are proof that the location of Sun Life affects attendance. It's in the middle of nowhere. Sure it's perfect for the handful of Broward/WPC residents that show up to the game, but it's not good for tourists.
Marlins Park attendance low happened this season, "ONLY" 13 thousand showed up on a game against the Braves. Which is about 11 thousand more than they would get regularly when they played in Sun Life stadium. Hell there were games in Sun Life that only 200 or less showed up in attendance.
Last year they got approximately 1 million more showing up to games than they did the previous year in Sun Life, and were only 300 thousand short of the National League attendance average for the year.
Location is everything, and that Carol City/ghetto location Sun Life is in does not sell. If they were in actual Miami, attendance would not be a problem.
But that's something the future owner will have to think about. Because obviously we aren't going to get renovations done from Ross anymore so who ever owns the team 5 years from now will have an even more deteriorated stadium and will want to give it away just like Ross did and get his own stadium.djphinfan likes this. -
Would the NFL allow the team to move out of Miami? Don't they get a large say in this?

seems the phins built things up this off season as some have said. Big free agent acquisitions, big move up in the draft, new uniforms,, even got a qb they believe in last year. They built everything up for the crescendo,, the vote, but they misjudged/misplayed weatherford and the rug has been pulled out from under them. Now they're in a bind and have to walk the fine line of public good will, they know its not an easy walk. its gonna be interesting to see what develops, painting the politicians as "unwilling to let the people voice their opinion" seems a good play right now. Lets see the next volley from the politicians.
