REGION: County revenues fall by $78 million, officials say : North County Times - Californian Falling sales and property tax revenue account for $47 million of the $78 million gap, Steuer said. Steuer said the troubled housing market contributed to the projected $25 million shortfall in property taxes, which was estimated to be about $235 million this year. Slowing consumer spending led the county to revise sales tax projections by $22 million. Last week the city of Escondido said it might have to shorten hours or shut down the city library, and possibly lay off police officers due to there 5 million dollar deficit.
You know, if we could send in only 100 million of that 700 Billion set aside for banks... They'd have enough and then some.... Just saying...
Or a billion or 2 into infrastructure to create 100,000 jobs or so... But that would make too much sense.
Yes it is bro, and to think this is just our county losing 22 million dollars from property taxes. The state is billions of dollars in debt.
no Doubt.. But I think a new "woe is the California economy" thread appears in this forum daily.. Rhode Island for example, will be at 10% unemployment when the new numbers come out. Pretty bad and getting worse.
Just pointing out how things are here in California so others can get a point of view. Our unemployment is at least 9% here, and growing daily. As California is affected, so will a lot of other states in the country. If you don't like the topics, then don't read them.
Well post them! That's what the forum is about, sharing of information. We have several San Diego members so its a good way to get discussion going amongst fellow brothers in the Fin community that are being affected by this. Its not like we'd only peek in the California threads
Oh I don't mind at all. Just cracking some sarcasm. If I wanted to post some Rhode Island threads I would.
Hey OT how come threads look like they're less pages now, but none of the posts are gone? Did someone increase the number of posts per page?
This truley is unfortunate. I absolutely LOVE to visit Sandy Eggo, one of my all time favorite desitnations. One would think that with the incredible attractions and incredible number of Tourists every year they would be pretty solvent.
