Kind of strange having a Dolphin fan posting a semi positive post for our hated "Green and White," rival... but just some stats to their last 2 years "Super Bowl," expectations...

Fans of the "Green Machine," have been jubilant about their's team"s performance in the Post Season over the last few years and mostly everyone in the NFL has taken notice. We all know that they have been to the Conference Finals, the last two years and have just come up short in the end...

...and in the end that is what most if not all in the NFL see... that is their Post Season performance and not how they got there, through the Regualr Season that is...

It is safe and politically correct to state that Sanchez and the Offense Passing game has struggled to achieve mediocre stats during the last 2 Regular Seasons. And, they have also posted a terrible losing record against Winning Teams (above .500). Just that most if not all miss this point based on their Post Season Record. Just, that you have to get through the Regular Season to make it to the Post Season, and you don't hear anyone making this remarks...

Sanchez and the O have had a lot of success in the Post Season passing the ole football around and being productive at the same time, except for 2 games. But over all he has been good consistant QB over the last 2 Post Seasons...

The Jets Passing game, in the last 2 Post Seasons, has an average of 61% completion, 7.4 YPA, with a combined 9 TDs, just 3 INTs, and a very indicative 94 QBR... Sanchez has played very good, the way you want your QB to play in the Post Season against formidable opponents...

So how have the Jet's made it just one game shy of the Super Bowl over the last 2 years??? Well, they should thank their Strength of Schedule, yes the same SoS that we hold so dearly... and here is the basis of this post...

During the 2009 Regular Season, the Green Machine had a Winning Record of 5-4 against non-winning teams (.500 or below) and a record of 3-3 against winning teams. I discounted the Colts game altogether, since they sat their starters in the second half. Don't count that the Jets were leading in the second half, because they were also leading in the second half of that years Conference Final and lost...anyways...

The Jets made the Post Season and the 62 QBR in Passing efficiency in 2009, left their marked as ranked 31st in the NFL... but they made noise in the Post Season... and now we move into 2010...

During the 2010 Regular Season, the Jets recorded 9 wins (9-1) against non-winning teams and went 2-4 against winning opponents. Sanchez and that Passing O had a 77 QBR, efficient enough for the SoS and their Defense to win games. Even tough Sanchez had a few 4th quarter heroics, their D held the fort down to allow it to happen.

Again that record would make you believe that they would not make noise in the Post Season, but Offensively, they have played very good, and made it all the way to the Conference Final again...

The one good consistant this Jets team has during the Regular Seasons is the performance of their Defense, being stingy on scoring...

But their SoS this Season (2011) has at least 8 games against winning opponents (two more teams), the most they have had in the last 2 years, could define their Season, as well as their Post Season...

Now it is up to Sanchez, to play to his Post Season potential during the Regular Season, if not, IMHO, it will be the first time the Jets miss the Post Season in the last 3 years...
