There is also a comparison chart for you see as well in the link I posted. So what do you think? Do you buy this? I think it is too early to compare but at the same time I am always going to towards Henne because I think he is better than what people are saying about him.

"SANCHEZ GENERATING MVP TALK" is beyond madness, it's premature ejaculation. Remember guys, ESPN is driven by ratings and NY is a big market. There's always a dollar sign behind everything.

However, can you really make the argument that Sanchez isn't separating himself from Henne at the moment? I will agree that there is still a ton of football left to be played.dolfndav34, Trowa, Disnardo and 1 other person like this. -
Let's see if I am reading this right:
Sanchez 4 of 17 for 135 yards: 23.5% completion, 33.75 YPC, and 7.04 YPA.
Henne 2 of 6 for 86 yards: 33.3% completion and 43 YPC, and 14.33 YPA.
I can't see even one area in there that shows Sanchez is better than Henne on passes over 21 yards in the air, except for total yards. Am I missing something? Yeah the yards per attempt is just silly to have in there but, I figured might as well put it in there.
Personally I don't think there is enough data for either to determine who has the better long-ball numbers. I just had to point out how ridiculous it was for the writer to even bring it up.
Edit: I guess he is saying he has a better long-ball because 2 of them went for TDs. Still, that doesn't make his argument any more compelling to me.Germanfinfan, Disnardo, Rhody Phins Fan and 3 others like this. -
And why are they blaming Henne for our losses? Whenever he passes for 300+ yards we lose...Yeah Henne must be the problem :sigh:. ESPN is mindblowingly stupid.

An MVP with a 55% completion ratio, that has to be some kind of first.
Credit where credit is due, he has not turned the ball over as much as I thought he would, and not for lack of trying.hugoguzman and dolfan7171 like this. -
Don't forget, Sanchez has played 1 more game than Henne...
Completion %:
Sanchez: 55.1
Henne: 64.1
Yards:
Sanchez: 902
Henne: 964
Yards Per Attempt:
Sanchez: 6.1
Henne: 7.4
Sanchez' QB rating is only 5 points higher, with throwing zero interceptions. Henne is asked to do A LOT more than Sanchez and the numbers don't lie.
Sanchez still hasn't proved he can win a game with his arm or win a game on the final drive.
Give me Henne, and STFU ESPN. -
If there was a stat for dropped INT's, Sanchez would be leading by a mile. I've seen 4 of the 5 Jets game, and holy **** Sanchez has to have a golden horseshoe shoved up his ***.

Sanchez has definitely made big strides, absolutely. He's definitely a better athlete than Henne. And I've always said that I like the fact that he plays fast.
But he has better talent around him on both sides of the ball. And he's put the ball in danger more than Henne has, highlighted by two gimme INT drops at Miami (and another overturned). As upsetting as Henne's INT's last week were, imagine if Langford and Bell don't drop those INT's. Either could have been TD's. Langford's was a softball pass. And lack of discipline on defense prevented a few more opportunities.
Again, he is playing well. No doubt about it. But the 'no turnover' stuff is short-sighted. He's been lucky here.
The scorecard will write itself over time.Disnardo, hugoguzman, DevilFin13 and 7 others like this. -
The absolute only thing noteworthy about Mark Sanchez this year is that he's avoided throwing interceptions, and given the throws he's made and the ones that have been missed, that's as much dumb luck as anything.
The most telling statistic to me about the whole thing is that Mark Sanchez has only broken 200 passing yards in 6 of his 25 career games, and has yet to hit 300... A mark that Henne has hit 5 times in 17 career starts.hugoguzman, FinFan_Est.1984, DolfanJake and 2 others like this. -
And for the Jets fans, I'm not saying Sanchez is bad or hasn't played well, he has. However, this article is pure ****. There's absolutely nothing that dictates Sanchez being better than Henne. In fact, based on the information we know (stats, team around them, what they're asked to do) I'd say Henne is much better because he's had games on his shoulders, and has proved he can come through.hugoguzman and dolfan7171 like this. -
There is ZERO accountability in journalism anymore, and ESPN is the absolute worst. They induce and strive on a Society of Bandwagoning. Its rather sickening to be honest.Ophinerated and dolfan7171 like this. -
IMO the big difference has been the offensive lines. The Jet's OL has been very good in the run game. They are #1 in the league in YPG and they average 5.1 YPA. The Dolphins are 15th in yards and average 3.9 YPA. Having a strong run game makes playing QB much easier. The other big difference is luck. I've seen Sanchez throw more dangerous passes than Henne (meaning more passes that could or should have been INTs), but Sanchez has benefitted from many drops by the defenders. I expect that the luck will even out as the season progresses.

There are things Sanchez is doing better and Henne is doing better
Sanchez
1) looking off receivers
2) more agressive
Henne
1) better accuracy
2) smarter decision making (patriotss being the exception)azfinfanmang, dolfan7171 and JimToss like this. -

Sanchez is absolutely playing better.
It may be because he is on a better team, they have an offensive identity, etc. We can make all the excuses in the world, but Sanchez is absolutely playing better right now than Henne. Admitting this is not the end of the world.
Not saying that will be the permanent case, but it is the current situation.
But MVP talk is batsh!t insane.
Just as a disclosure. Henne is not the reason we are losing football games. He is not to blame and I am perfectly happy with his development.NaboCane and dolfan7171 like this. -
I'm not saying anything negative regarding Sanchez nor Henne but there is an interesting statistic. Sanchez's YPA is lower this year than last year. That is very odd to me.

Bench Henne for Pennington? Are you kidding me...coming from a Jets fan...Henne is good, young...ton of talent...not sure I agree with the article...Sanchez does have more talent around him...etc....one thing as a Jets fan I do like is he is a HARD WORKER....gym, film study rat...that cant be a bad thing...and he is only 23...2 yrs younger than Henne....but I do like Henne..I drafted him on my fantasy team and I'm a Jets fan....btw..starting him vs. GB...LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without question he maneuvers within the pocket better while keeping play's alive..
His overall speed throughout the action of QB'ing is fast.
He's going through his reads better and finding his 2nd option..
His feet are exceptional, no question about that.
He's maneuvering defenders with head and shoulder fakes better...
Henne is hanging in there, but the comfortabilty factor has not kicked in yet, he has to get better in these dept's..
MVP my ***...Califin and dolfan7171 like this. -
I am not yet willing to believe the interceptions Sanchez throws will be dropped all season...I am expecting the comparison between these 2 will even out by the end of the season

The MVP thing is funny~
Henne should be miles ahead but he's not. He was a 4 year starter in college and sat for a year in the NFL.
Sanchez was a 1 year starter in college and started his rookie year in the NFL, so he has a couple games more as a starter, but Sanchez has looked better so far this year.
When Henne finally learns to look off receivers and do pump fakes, I'll **** my pants~dolfan7171 likes this. -
MVP talk is beyond silly. And I agree that it is way too early to compare the two. But I will say this. Sanchez is way better at play action passing than Henne. In fact, he used play action more than anyone in the league last year. When you have a strong running game, the play action pass is invaluable. From what I have seen of Henne, his play action looks like a courtesy "here you go" to the running back and it fools no one. Now I will wait to be slammed for not knowing your quarterback  But if he is even a decent play action passer, I haven't seen it in the 4 games I have seen him play this year.

Actually, after going back and re-reading this a couple of times, this guy is an Embecile.
Lets break this down shall we?
Honestly? 5 games in this maladroit is annointing Snatcho as an MVP? This is coming from "The Leader in Sports". Absolute BS!!!

I love watching a great play action passer (not saying that Sanchez is great, but he is getting there). Pennington was very good at it and so was Boomer Esiason with the Jets. It opens up the middle of the field and can make it much easier for a quarterback.dolfan7171 likes this. -

I think it's a fair topic for discussion; real discussion.
I don't think Sanchez is as good as his results this season, nor do I believe that Henne is as bad as his results this season.
Sanchez has benefited from talent put in place for him by an administration that knew its goal clearly and didn't stray from its blueprint; Henne has been hampered by poor talent on the interior OL and totally ignoring the RB position by an administration that lost its blueprint and strayed far...FAR from good drafting and personnel selection.
The really sad part of that is that they knew better evidenced by this year's mostly-solid draft, and the acquisition of two major components in pro personnel.
Additionally, David Lee may be some kind or genius for coming up with the Wildcat two years ago, but he has not developed Henne at all in terms of his decision-making and his foot mechanics, and that has hampered the young QB tremendously because when the team needs him to put it on his shoulders, he comes up short more often than not.
Henne may not have had all the tools coming out of Michigan, but he has a good foundation to build on and this administration has failed him over three offseasons by not focusing on his flaws to fix them and letting him continue to just gun it, exactly the way he could get away with in college.
People always want to get caught up in the stats - wins and losses, percentages, TDs - but judging a young QB can only happen by watching him.
Stats are dependent on 21 other guys, he's only the 22nd component from that standpoint. But if you watch Henne you can see his strengths...and his flaws.fin13 and dolfan7171 like this. -
Ya know... couple years ago, Trent Edwards was an MVP front runner according to some in the media... I believe the Bills started that season 4 and 1. Whatever happened to that guy?
