Sanchez Willing to Restructure!

Mark Sanchez said he'd be willing to re-structure his contract to ease the Jets' salary-cap burdens now that the quick free agent signing period is underway.

Among other players, the Jets stand to lose Braylon Edwards and Santonio holmes if they cannot make a deal.

"Absolutely. My agent has already talked to me about it,'' Sanchez said. "So whatever we need to do to win, it's on. I think our whole team feels that way. (Darrelle) Revis, me, whatever.''

Sanchez said he's confident team management feels that way, too.

"Whatever it takes. That's (Mike) Tannenbaum, (Woody) Johnson, Rex's third down conversion.That's them trying to throw touchdown pass, that's them getting a sack. That's what we do on the field. Well this is what they do in the offseason,'' he said. "I know they'll position us and acquire the best talent we possibly can with the finances we have.

"Whatever it takes, whether it's adjusting contracts, delaying payments, whatever we have to do. Our team will do it, I know that and we'll be unselfish with it.''

It is a kind of attitude that Sanchez said will likely also attract other free agents.

"Absolutely. I'll tell the guys upstairs, too (that I'm willing to restructure my contract) they know that. Whatever it takes to win and if it's throwing the ball left handed and that's going to make us win, fine I'll throw left-handed. It doesn't matter. We need to win.''

Sanchez said he has already spoken to both Holmes and Edwards in the meantime.

Of his conversation with Holmes, he said:

"We talked a little bit but I don't know what he wants me to say just yet,'' Sanchez said. "We'll talk later this week and figure things out, but he's got a big decision to make and I respect that. Those conversations are private right now but once everything gets settled I'm sure we'll be able to talk about it.''

On Edwards: "A little bit as well, but they're in a tough position and I want to respect their privacy. But until the deal gets settled I'll talk about it then.''

It's nice, but not really out of the ordinary. Highly-paid quarterbacks do this all the time.
