Brian is doing a great job calling the plays. And you can see the Confidence in that team. And it is also benefiting Sanchez. i am getting pissed with our crap calling and not executing. Henne seems not such a great leader. Damn,

I know a ton of people that would take Henning in a heart beat.

for whatever reason henning will be the whipping child on these boards this year. it has nothing to do with reality. people just want a scapegoat. we expect to win every game 72-0 and when we dont it has to be someone's fault. its too difficult to break down every play and say a guard missed a block here, the back failed to pick up a block there, the receiver dogged a route. alot easier to just blame the OC

not me I just want some form of an identity. It has to be an offense with the right calls at the right time and good balance.
I'm not asking for much right?

did the little piggy cry we we we all the way home?
My advice is don't watch, listen or read about any games. This will give you time to get your resume' together to apply for the position if it opens up next year. You're not getting a new OC during the course of the year and frankly don't need one as of now.
Did you happen to see the Jets-Ravens game?
So... we start a thread to complain about our OC, even though there are 100 other threads about that same subject, then we talk about the Jets OC, while I agree, they are calling plays that cater to Sanchez' strengths right now, but whatever, who cares. then we throw our QB under the bus after a great performance last week? Im puzzled by that, and not really sure what it has to do with Henning or Schottenheimer?
So glad I took a look at this...

If someone is implying that I'm not about to 1 star this then they're sadly mistaken. 363 Yards 2 TD's if you need a reason why.
The week one game was unbelievably conservative. Seriously, he came out and admitted that he handcuffed Sanchez after the game, we were playing to win that game by one point.
He has a great 3 weeks, after 4 BRUTAL seasons. Compare the career stats of QB's playing with Schotty and without him (Pennington and Favre). There's a brutal contrast in INT's, he's just too predictable at times.
Things have improved though, can't complain about him so far this season.
Getting old, no, it got old a while back.
To be fair Favre was hurt around mid season that year and that is when Favres stats really declined sharply so it skews the overall stats.
Schottenheimer isnt the problem all the time. He is like his dad to a degree very run oriented but a lot of the passing game has fallen on the decision makers over the years.
But he does some of the craziest **** that believe me, would make you pull your hair out.
I mean we always have a good running attack and then he'd empty the backfield on short yardage, he'd run play action on 3rd and long, he used to run those unbelievably predictable comeback routes which would lead to pick 6 after pick 6 with Pennington. It has been just brutal at time. Really.
He's looked great over the last 3 weeks, and I have been stunned. But don't be shocked (I know you wont be disappointed) if I'm bumping this thread in a few weeks showing how he's killing our season.
Hope I'm wrong, but as long as Schotty is our OC, I can't see us keeping this sort of production going. Holmes will be a HUGE help though.
They need to play Henne the same way they play him against the Jets. Henning doesn't have trust in him just yet.

I'm not saying they didn't have a right to deeply criticize him. Just saying that Schotty has a couple good weeks and the OP referenced him as if he is very good.
I watch Jet games regularly since I live in NY and my two best friends are Jets fans. Of course I root for them to loose and my third favorite team is whoever is playing the Jets that week but I see enough of Schottenheimer to say that hes really not that bad. the Ravens game he was a bit more conservative then usual but you kind of have to play that way vs Baltimore unless you have a great pass blocking OL which you dont (not saying Miami does either, just sayin).
I hear on the FAN/ESPN regularly Jets fans complaining but half the people never know what they are watching. Penny never had the arm strength to throw that route but Clemens, Sanchez and certainly Favre did/does.
henning trusts him I think, but I think Henning has spouts of brilliance and periods of ultra conservatism.

yep. He's 3rd in receptions in the nfl right now and i still say "Why didn't we just throw it to marshall!?" when it's not thrown his way.
also, kudos on not being a douchebag jets fan.

Can the Mods just create a seperate Bash Henning forum for the mob that wants to blame him for everything wrong with to team to global warming and the economy not rebounding enough so the rest of us don't have to sift through all this nonsense? Fans don't always have to be positive, I get people want to vent but at this point theres multiple 'I hate Henning' threads popping up daily it gets old.

Perhaps it's not just Henne's play calling but his schemes, but have you noticed, other than a game or two where the WC was new, that we never beat teams the way we should ?? Have you noticed that we always play down to our opponents ?? Is it Henne ?? Is it Sparano's fault ?? Is it lack of talent ?? I don't know for sure, but somewhere along the line, this team has lost the killer instinct on offense and since Henne is the 'coordinator' of the offense he rightly deserves the criticism....

the philosophy starts with Head Coach Sparano and is old school Parcells. When you are in a game where your defense is dominating, once you get the lead, you tighten up offensively and play field position and run down the clock. I would believe that 90% of coaches would do the same. Our first two games, our defense completely dominated Buffalo and Minnesota, so there was no need too open up the offense. just play field position and run out the clock. When we got into a game where our defense was on its heels, the Jets, Henning unleashed the air part of air coryell. the man can play any style you want but it starts with the coach and thats sparano not henning. remember this is a guy that won the super bowl with john riggins running a power game and then won a super bowl with the passing attack of Doug Williams.
i think people dont like sitting on leads but when you are dominating the opposition i think its a smart bet. i think when you want to attack is when your defense isnt dominating. those are the game you score and you keep scoring.
i think some people, not you, also want us to be the indianapolis colts and that will never happen with this team. we may become the doug williams redskins but we'll never be the manning colts
