Did anybody out there consider the reason why Parcells has said the GM will have final say in player decisions? Is it because that is a promotion for his son in law Pioli from his current job in New England where Belicheck has final say? We all know Bill is very clever in how he works people. We know he hates the Krafts, Do you think what he is saying now is all for a reason?, Do you think he wants to groom Pioli for the long haul when Bill gets out? Sometimes you have to read between the lines in life, I do everyday at work. I think Parcells already knows what he wants to do and may have for weeks before taking the job here. In philly they call it street wise, and bill is a jersey guy.

Having final say in personnel decisions does not constitute a promotion in comparison to Pioli's current job. Promotions are determined by job titles. Pioli would be the General Manager here, just as he is in New England.
And I have yet to hear people explain why Scott Pioli would leave New England for Miami in the first place. "He's Parcells' son-in-law" makes no sense, because under the "relationship to Parcells" theory we could expect Bill Belichick to be our coach in 2008. Also, the "Pioli to Miami" talk has been around longer than Parcells. -
No, this guy hates the krafts, that is well known up here, Parcells doesnt do something by chance, he never has, something is up, what a better way to screw the cheaters anyway

It is a promotion if he has final say, he does not in New england

he is not the GM in New England,

Pioli wants to run a franchise by himself eventually
-
Not occurding to the story in CNNSI today that postulates the same thing I am

Pioli had a chance to run a franchise by himself when Ernie Accorsi retired as GM of the Giants. He turned the job down.
I don't know why people are so unable to grasp the idea that Scott Pioli may actually be happy in his current job. -
He may be happy, parcells would know, he married his daughter

Only bill would know

It really doesn't matter. The underlying problem is that even if Parcells could convince Pioli to come to Miami, New England would not have to release him from his contract as the Dolphins job wouldn't constitute a promotion. And if there's one thing the Pats will absolutely not do it's letting their best personell guy jump ship to a division rival because his father in law is the VP there.
The only way of getting Pioli (apart from having to convince him to leave a dynasty in favor of a mess) is to grant him full personell control - which would make the Tuna hiring rather silly. -

In fact, it's the other way round: The Parcell's signing makes it virtually impossible. If Huizenga would have offered the Tuna's job to Pioli, the Pats would have had to let him walk. By hiring Parcells, however, Huizanga quite literally closed the door on Pioli. Sure, you could assume that Bill Belichik is going to say, gee, Scott, of course I don't mind if you make our division rival competitive again and leave us without a proven personell guy, but frankly that sounds like snowball, hell and all that stuff ;) -

That's not entirely true. Theoretically, the Dolphins could create a position for Pioli (i.e. "Imperial Supervisor of the Draft and all that Stuff") which on paper would constitute a promotion from his NE job. However, the Patriots could legitimately argue that Pioli's new job wasn't a promotion at all (he doesn't have final say now and wouldn't then) and ultimately block him from leaving.
The only way of making the Pats let Pioli go is to give him final authority over personell matters. But if we do that, what's Parcells going to do? -

I will settle for anyone instead of another draft my Mueller. But hey as long as you know their family its okay - draft them in the first round! We could always use another kick returner for our first pick!
