From their breakdown of the Steelers-Jets game (which the Jets lost)

[EDIT - Thanks CK] If we had A good secondary this would thrill me, but I think it's a wash.
Starks and Soliai get a good challenge this week. Mangold is as good as Pouncey is for us. I'm especially concerned about how Dansby plays against the run this week. He needs to bring his best. No wrong-gapping. No letting Mangold release to the second level and wipe him out.
Lets hope the elder Pouncey brother gives some pointers to the younger Pouncey brother this week. Long is not playing at 100% so Rex may send McIntyre around Jake's outside just as he did to Pittsburgh's LT Max Starks. Jerry and Martin are potential targets for Rex Ryan blitzes off the right side of our line. The Jets do a great job confusing O-lines on blitz pickups so lets hope our guys have it together or Tannehill will get hit lots back there.
This gives me some hope that Wake could be enough, if he has a good game.
This is phenomenal for us, since Bush excels at this part. I think we also need some physical presence, however, and would love to see Philbin call an early play where Javorskie Lane gets the ball with a full head of steam towards Bart Scott. Levelling Bart Scott would do a lot for our team's mentality, and diminish the Jets' confidence. A combination of physical domination like that, with Bush's elusiveness would soon frustrate amd discourage the Jets players, getting them onto their heels.
The concern is whether we can establish any sort of inside run game. This is especially critical on short down and distances. Reggie bouncing outside for a big gain is possible because defenders must respect that he could run up the middle. If the Jets D-line can stone us between the tackles, then the linebackers and secondary can commit to flowing to the boundary, preventing any big outside runs.

PFF was trying to make the point that Sanchez only completed 3 of 11 passes when NOT blitzed...the suggestion being, maybe Miami should hold off on blitzng him and see if they can get pressure while keeping everyone out in coverage.
I would personally rather do that. During his career in NY, Sanchez has been a better passer facing a blitz than facing coverage. He might get sacked slightly more often against the blitz (difference is negligible) but he loves making big plays right into the teeth of a blitz and he ends up surprisingly not getting intercepted on those plays (20 TDs in 2010 & 2011, only 6 INTs). So far this year it's been the opposite, he's passed much better when not blitzed than when blitzed. But a big part of that was the Bills, who rarely blitzed him, and whom he had the same passer rating into the blitz as he did into non-blitzes.
The problem is obvious. With the cast we've assembled, it gets difficult for us to apply pressure if we're not blitzing.HULKFish, Ohio Fanatic, Bpk and 1 other person like this. -
Blitz early and let the sun blitz him in the second half...

Garret McIntyre is a fmr CFLer
Jets were not very impressive tbh, it looked like they had lost their swag.Bpk likes this. -
Gotta make sure to take care of the ball in the first half and hopefully the heat will get to them in the 2nd half and Phins can capitalize again. Dolphins may finally have the heat advantage again. Defense hopefully gets turnovers, especially if Tebow touches the ball. Bad memories of the Bronco game.

In Sparano we trust.

Look, the Jets offense is poor, and Rex threw Sparano under the bus already with his quotes, which to me is bad because the head coach runs the team, you tell the OC what you want.
But!
The Jets will blitz often and our Oline has not handled pass blocking well at all. If we don't sure that up, Tanny will be running for his life. I also think that is why we saw so many rollout passes this past week.Bpk likes this. -

I would not be shocked to see more of Tebow this game, especially considering that it's a divisional game and against Tony's former team, to boot.
When the Jets go conventional on offense I would prefer we send pressure, because I don't know if we have the secondary that can hold up well if we can't generate a consistent pass rush. -
Frankly, I'm relieved by that because our blitzes never reach the QB in time. -

Would like to see Thigpen get into that mix, but those are two good options to have in the passing game.
In fact, I can see either one housing a Td from 40+. -

Oh Rex is gonna love Tony by years end.
I guarantee Rex has already had an earful about player snap counts.
