You think we run any wildcat plays today? Recently, we've been practicing in the bubble, closed to media. We havent ran one damn wildcat play all preseason. Im not saying I want to see it. But do you think it happens?

Yes.
I have a feeling we will see it, and I'll roll my eyes in disgust. The play will work, and I'll act like I knew it was awesome the whole time.Springveldt, madforrit, Colorado Dolfan and 10 others like this. -
I think we must run it sometime in the game if for no other reason then to let them know it is still an option for this team. Hopefully it will be used sparingly and not as a drive killer/rythm killer as it has in the past at times.

As long as we don't run it when Henne is on fire.

I think it needs to be judiciously run at particular times in the game. I know that Daboll had Cribbs running it in Cleveland. Thomas is the likely candidate here, but is he going to play ? That could cramp their style a bit as to how much it is used. What I'm hoping is that we won't need to use it...that the new offense will be enough to keep us in the game, but I'm sure that BB will have something to say about that. They seem to be ready to play when they have to, no matter how good or bad they've played overall during a season (or in this case, PS)... I just don't think it has much relevance for us at this time. We are still learning to execute the overall offense and given that we've had no offseason, I'd say that we will see little of the WC...
-
I'm not crazy about any wildcat plays until our line shows a little more cohesion and protection. Let's get our offense running smoothly, then pull out the WC, if needed.

Hard to see them doing it at this point. Once Thomas gets more reps in the offense I'm sure it will make an appearance though.
-
Hopefully only for goal line situations inside the 5. Other than that, I'd rather keep Henne in the game. Let's see what this kid can do.

Daniel Thomas practiced all weekend and will be playing tonight per yahoo/espn report.

EDIT: Didn't see this was already mentioned. My bad guys.
Not sure if you guys saw Ronnie Brown run the Wildcat for the Eagles around the goal line yesterday. It fooled no one and he nearly got injured on the play when the two ends sandwiched his ***.
I do think we'll see it at least some variation of it, but mostly as a trick play. -
I think we'll see it. Especially if the running game is hurting out of our traditional offense.
-
I expect we'll see it, and I expect we'll see some passes out of it. If we cannot throw out of the Wildcat, it might be truly dead.

I hope not, but it's certainly possible. let's just hope it doesn't result in Marshall throwing into quadruple coverage again :tongue2:

Daboll ran some Wildcat with Josh Cribbs(and was better at it) so it could happen. Especially since the Patriots were the team we first used it on. Who could run it though? Reggie Bush?

I went ahead and started a thread since it may get lost in the shuffle of this one.

Short yardage and goal line situations it makes too much sense to use it...you can't just shelve it in those situations. That's part of the reason you bring a Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas together into the same backfield, so that you have a trigger man and a fly sweep man.
I'm sure the Patriots are preparing like we'll use it.SICK likes this. -

We can get into it back and forth about off season players-only practices, etc...but I don't see those things as any substitute, and almost none of the defensive players were present for any of those.
My gut is that what happens tonight is the defense lets us down a lot more than anyone thought they would. I think the offense may actually perform fairly well, as Chad Henne retains a lot of familiarity with Brandon Marshall, Brian Hartline, Davone Bess and Anthony Fasano. But in terms of the complete game, I think it's a loss and I think it's by more than 7 points. -
I can see the same thing happening where they put up 35-40 points on us. Hope I'm wrong as well. -

DTrain in the Ronnie b role, and Lexxy or LJ on the jet sweep or even Bush. -

I disagree with you CK for one reason. Odrick and Starks are Taylor are going to give the Pats right side of the line tremendous trouble. It's not going to be easy for Tom to pick apart the D if they have to shift protection to the right and against Cameron Wake.
