New England Patriots linebacker Shawn Crable has been released, the team announced on Tuesday.
A third-round pick (78th overall) out of the University of Michigan by the Patriots in 2008, Crable did not appear in an NFL game prior to this season.
New England had elevated Crable to the active roster in late September. In six games, Crable had four tackles and split a first quarter sack of Ben Roethlisberger with Mike Wright.
