Seriously, I'm really concerned if our revamped LBs and safeties can cover this guy. We all know how badly we got torched by TEs last year.

Couple our recent inability to cover TEs with Favre's inability to get the ball to his WRs and his reliance on the TE, it looks like the Shiancoe matchup is really the one key to the game that I lack confidence in our Phins.

Can someone explain to me why I should not be nervous.

Because our coaches hopefully see this obvious problem, nolan scheme should have changed the d completely, and we got dansby

    over there

Crowder was so bad in coverage you thought it was Ayodele?
Or was it because Channing was out of the TV picture?

    :wink2:

Dansby and Co. will take care of their TE.
My concern is keeping Harvin on the bench..

Karlos Dansby won't be able to shut down Shiancoe. I'm not sure any LB could cover a lot of the good TEs consistently. The way to shut down a TE is by forcing him to stay home and block. Get pressure on the QB, and you won't hear much from Shiancoe.

No LB can completely shut down a good TE, but Dansby is good enough in coverage that I'm confident Shiancoe won't kill us like he probably would have last year.

Do you think Y. Bell might have something to say about it? The guy seems very confident in this scheme.

Putting Favre on his butt every other play should neutralize a lot of things

If the refs let him get away with the obvious pushoff then yeah, be afraid. Did you guys see him against the Saints? He was shovey Mcshoverton all game.

Definitely not overrated. If anything, he's underrated. When people think of the top tight ends in the league they don't think of Shiancoe.

Not at all. Especially from a TE. In fact, I'd venture to say there's many a WR that would love to have those stats. Matter of fact, I'm reminded of a WR that we traded away this past season who only had 5 receiving TD's in 3 years. :shifty:

Bell will have a hand in covering Shiancoe too. But nobody can shut down a good TE consistently by himself.

That’s because he’s not a top tight end. I can think of ten TEs more talented than him.

Shiancoe is a very reliable guy who can make the tough catch. Those are valuable traits. But, IMO, he can’t take over a game, and he’s rarely if ever been the reason why his team has won a game. He’s sort of the TE version of Greg Camarillo, or a more talented Anthony Fasano.

He’s worthy of respect, and he needs to be covered. But he’s not going to kill us the way Dallas Clark did.

Yeremiah Bell is the best Strong Safety in the NFL that no one talks about. Karlos Dansby is a raptor. Shiancoe is done.

I have no idea how Nolan is going to play Shiancoe but, Dansby, Misi, and Clemons are much better in coverage than what we had last season.

I love Bell as a player but, he is our weakest link in coverage.

We did not show much in blitzing last week, did not have to. I expect we will open the playbook more this week.

Nolan has a whole new beasty scheme he plans to unleash on the Vikes, I can't wait to see it, Favre and Shiancoe will wish they never had.
