Well, I take Shula's opinion with a bit of skepticism but agree with him here, Tuna did pull the plug quickly but I like Sparano and Henne, would like to have seen Shula compare the way his teams had the fewest penalties and how Sparano's teams have also been at the top of the league for fewest penalties every yr.

I don't take Shula's opinion with skepticism. I don't mean to ride the coat tails of an icon long since retired, but when the winningest coach in NFL history endorses coaches and players, one shouldn't take that lightly but his endorsement of Henne per say didn't come without objective criticism either.

I just hope that Brian Daboll or the new QB coach (can't remember his name off the top of my head) are able to coach Henne through his shortcomings and turn Henne from an average QB in to one of the elites.

Shula didn't exactly give Henne a ringing endorsement. Touch, accuracy and not making critical errors are all pretty important and all things Shula thinks he needs to work on. But other than that, I guess he's great

You know, Sparano might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but it is hard to question his coaching abilities when we have one of the highest unofficial work out participation levels in the league. So he isn't an X and O guru, but if he surrounds himself with good coordinators, he does a fine job of motivating and managing the team IMO. His game day management and snap count obsession may be his biggest downfalls though.

Parcells took the job on the condition that Huizenga wouldnt sell the team, and then Huizenga sold the team a year later. If anyone "bailed" it was Wayne.

Shula also mentioned that JaMarcus Russell could be a great QB in this league if he improves his touch, accuracy, settles into his roll, and avoids critical errors.

Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

Not a hater, am a doubter, hopefully Uncle Fester reads Henne's game film properly and tailors the offense to suit what he does well.

3 wides get the ball out of his hands via 3 step drops, let him get erased by blitzers, that should work..if Henne holds up.

You might have a point if a) Ross did something to piss off Parcels and b) Parcels didn't have a history of bailing on teams.

Would have Wayne H gone on his Big Adventure trying to sign Harbaugh if Parcells was still running things?

And that to me is why I don't hold it against Parcells, new owner proved to be unstable, Tuna had his name attached to the Dolphins at the time, so basically the new owner was disregarding the prior 3 yrs of work put in...can it be any clearer that Ross did not want him around the Franchise?

THAT is why Parcells bails on new owners.

He also has a history of turning bad teams into good teams, and we're MILES ahead of where were were when he arrived.

Love Sparano look up the survivor contest when he won, Way to much hate on a guy that works harder than anyone and is still learning. Henne has the tools, but does he have the brains to use em, Im all for another yr to see. Parcels did bail but gave us a foundation. SHULA STILL KNOWS FOOTBALL

Isn't this the first coach Shula has openly supported? I know he couldn't stand J.J. and I don't recall him saying much about Wanny/Saban et al.

This is false. Parcells was informed during contract negotiations that Huizenga was looking to sell the team. He signed on anyway.

Parcells would bail even if he owned the team it's his proven nature to tuck tail and run.
Parcells size and speed requirements for GM or head coach= ability to board plane out of town when failing.
edit / And point finger at others.

He left a good team unfinished IMO.

    Well away from here
Is that a reflection of the coach or of the type of players we have drafted over the last few years? Guys like Long and Davis etc? Some of it has to go to the players as well, not just the coach. It shows to me that there is some kind of leadership on this team. It may be young, but its coming.

No,that statement is false. Wayne then said he would not sell the team. He went back on that word anyway. Thats on Wayne.

Who couldn't have seen Parcells leaving right before the team either failed or succeeded? If they failed he could claim he left and they ruined the team, if they succeeded he can claim he built the team. He is the ultimate hired gun in the NFL. Kind of funny that Atlanta is ahead of us now.
