Don Shula never had an opportunity to be a Boy Scout, but he said he always respected the organization for its vision in bringing up boys to be productive young men in society.

"When I was coaching, I always wanted to have the perfect meeting where everyone got what they needed to get out of each meeting," Shula said. "Then they could go to practice and have a perfect practice.
"Because if you don't have perfect meetings, and they lead to practices that aren't what they should be, then you get to the game, and everything can go wrong."
