Have you ever heard of Shannon Myers?

Diehard Dolfans might remember Myers as the receiver taken in the seventh round out of tiny Lenoir-Rhyne in 1995, making him Don Shula’s last draft choice.

As this story explains, Myers has enjoyed a fun ride since football.

Myers, who suffered a freak kidney injury while laying out for deep ball in Dolphins training camp, didn’t make the roster.

“We usually finished the day with a bomb,” Myers recounted of his lacerated kidney, “so I dove out for the pass, pulled it in and if you can imagine I was parallel with the ground and I landed hard and my elbow went into my gut.”
