I say good riddance... I think Sedano would be more successful in drive time

yikes...sucks for sid...hes the first one to bring me on the air. friend of mine. he'll land on his feet
-
Ha!
One less turd from that station on the airwaves in S. Florida.
I couldn't stand that arrogant guy. -
-
That and advertising levels have dropped considerably.
That means downsizing or pay cuts for staff and on air personalities.
This guy has an ego the size of Manhattan.
I could see him telling them to go stuff themselves if they even hinted of giving him a paycut.
Joke will be on him in this market though.
He's burned bridges in the industry before and I could see him taking peanuts to spew his rants in some small market in the sticks. -
-
So long and good riddance.
It was disgraceful to have a Heat and Dolphin hater on a local station.
Ship his a$$ back to NYC.PMZQ and Coral Reefer like this. -
Sid Rosenberg was probably the worst thing on either of the two stations. There are erectile dysfunction and pyramid scheme ads I've liked more.

Sorry the guy lost his job. I only listened to him a few times when he first came down to S. Fla. Other than talking about the damned Giants and bragging about knowing somebody who had something to do with "Sopranos", I don't really remember anything about him.

The only thing good about Sid was he turned his life around. As a radio host he belongs back up in New York. -
-
why did he get fired?
-
Sick I do feel for his family, because I know he just became a father recently, but he really should have been a little bit less-NY homer, and put his hate for South Fla teams behind him, to get his job done. -
-
Everyone has guilty pleasures, but Sid Rosenberg is awful and wouldn't be in the business if he hadn't rode Don Imus' nuts to "fame", if that's what you would call hosting your own show on a 3rd rate AM station and drawing barely existent ratings.PMZQ likes this. -
i understand the dislike for sid....he is a ny homer....and annoying ny accent....i just know hes a good guy.....and he did, maybe in small doses...tried to do live spots at marlins games....you never saw lebits, boog or anyone else do it as much.....so i give him a little credit...
but i agree the soprano guests got old and the crappy name drops....
eh hes gone now, good luck to him :up:PMZQ likes this. -
As they say...if things are so great up there, why are you here and why not go back there. Good bye to all his stories on his past transgressions (and he makes lite of his drugs and booze and broads) his harrasment of females and anyone Not Jewish. good ridance.
speaking of Homers talking of local topics...how much would you listen to about Duke-NCst.-Unc. basketball and things near and dear to your home??:walkman:PMZQ likes this. -
incase you missed the memo......or havent seen the mix of fans at dolphin and marlin games.....its not all just miami fans down there. infact i saw more yankee hats then marlin hats in west palm and working in miami. and go to a dolphin jet game in miami......half the stadium is chantin J E T S JETS JETS JETS
sure sid didnt appeal to you and other dolphin fans....but he had a fan base and audience, and that was apparent by the packed remotes and busy phone lines during his show everyday....... -
the post wasn't aimed at you, but rather the area you have down as to where you live...thus the duke,nc...basketball ref. as to what locals want to listen to.
-
believe me i have been a producer in both markets. down in florida if we leaned too much on dolphin talk....we would get emails "talk about the yankees" "talk about the cubs" "talk about the jets" "talk about the patriots"
its a tough spot man....believe me -

no problem...no offence taken....by the way i spent two years up there in thomasville while doing food for the furniture markets twice a year in high point
-
But his behavior right after he got here was enough to make me turn him off right away. I hope he has learned and can apply that in the future. He needs to at the very least be neutral to the home town team, to keep listeners listening.mi2cents likes this. -

Gotta add some input here.
First off, the knock of Sids approach with NY teams and knocking the teams here is legit. He went out of his way to bash them and the S. Florida area in general. He appealed to the transplants and attacted those callers. Those people that are sick of hearing those transplants around them daily as it is, now they have to hear them on the radio. It's no mystery why people hated him because of that.
As PMZQ said, if he's going to go into any market other than NY, it would be professional of him to at the least be diplomatic of the hometown teams and assessing them. Expecting Rosenberg to be professional may be a little to advanced however.
Regardless of that, he sucks anyway. He brings little of substance to the table in his show ever. It would be easier to put up with his grating style and anti local bias if he actually put on a valuable show. Many have given the examples of the crap that made up a majority of his show.
Secondly, as to the suggestion that Sid is really this great and down to earth guy outside his show, that what you get on the air is just his schtick.
That's crap.
Like Sick I've dealt with the man personally. Not daily like he did but I had my experiences and know sales people and clients that have dealt with him as well. I've been in advertising for years and had my own shop down there for a couple years. Through that I've done a lot of dealings with radio people and planned remote appearances.
What you hear on the air is EXACTLY who Sid is.
You know sometimes as much as people villify stereotypes, the truth is, that they don't come out of thin air. Just because a stereotype exists dosen't mean the entire group or even the majority are like that but it does mean that there is a large enough faction of that group that does act that way for the stereotype to have been created.
People like Sid Rosenberg are the ones who are responsible for the stereotype of that loudmouthed, rude, arrogant, grating and tactless goombatz type NY'er. It is exactly who they are and they take pride in it.
I've seen Sid deal with the public, advertisers and clients in a very unprofessional manner personally. It's hard to feel sorry for someone of that sort. He made his bed IMO.
Sid don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out of FL! :tongue2:late again, Agua and mi2cents like this. -
O.J. McDuffie is one of the nicest people on the planet and he wanted to kill Sid when he first met him.
Now they claim to have become friends since then but I'm guessing they have not seen one another much since OJ was let go.
I've never dealt with the man but I don't think I have to do that to get an idea of who he is. We've herd Sid wear his heart on his sleave since he was hired. I say best of luck to you Sid, but 790 might have just gotten a listener back in what used to be your slot. Good luck and thank goodness!! -
If so where is it and if not what was it called?
I'm an S. FL. native born and bread as well.
Little later than you but I was there.
I remember a sub shop in Miami Shores in the late 70's and 80's that named all the sandwiches after Dolphin's players. I've wondered if it's still there. -
