Was talking to Dirty Landry earlier. I agree that with Lippett out we need to get Revis in here. What's the worst that can happen having another accomplished vet in the secondary? I know he's old but if we can get 80% of his 2015 stats when he had 5 ints would be awesome.
Thoughts?

Tankersley replaces Lippett. Verner can too. Revis is done, and even if we wanted to sign him, he'd ask for some outlandish amount of money. Revis has always been a Money #1 kind of guy.

Only if the price is right AND his attitude is in check. We don't need any divas with poor work ethics in the locker room.

it would have to be at a premium. How bad does Miami want to save this season?

"Former 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock, cleared last week of domestic violence charges, is a free agent looking for a job, and he'll start his search Tuesday with the Seahawks, Pro Football Talk reported, citing an unidentified source with knowledge of the situation.
The Seahawks clearly are very familiar with Brock, who played seven seasons for the Niners in the NFC West."MrClean likes this. -
If Brock was truly cleared I'd hope the Dolphins can at least get a good look at him.
As for Revis, I'd rather ask Ronnie Lott to come out of retirement and play for the Dolphins. He might be pushing 60 years of age, but I bet he'd leave more out on the field than Revis.Tin Indian, MrClean, mcdave21 and 6 others like this. -
We'll be fine at CB. Sure, losing Lippett hurts, but that's what Howard, Tankersly, McCain and Verner are here for.
If we're talking about "saving the season" in any way, they need to be looking at the offensive line. I'd be more shocked if Pouncey plays all year, or our Guards play decent than I would to see our defense take a big hit without Lippett. And, don't get me wrong here. I like Lippett. He's turned into a fine corner for playing college ball at WR, but losing Pouncey, and not solidifying the shaky interior of our OL will be more season damning than the loss of Lippett.MrClean, dolphin25, Redwine4all and 1 other person like this. -
Revis is getting paid by I think the Jets some obscene amount since it was guaranteed. Any money that he singed for would detract from that amount, so it would have to be more then what the guarantee was which is more than anyone else wants to pay. So its a hard NO.

With our cap situation I would not expect any high priced people to be brought in to "save the day". We are going to have to mitigate these injuries with what we have on the roster and what others cut in August if we see any minor upgrades there. No splashes for this team. This is what we have and we'll have to live with it, however that works out.

I don't think there's any way- Miami doesn't have the cap space. The emergency Cutler signing means you're missing $10m you needed to roll over for next year.
He's owed $6m this year by the Jets, and he gets that money if he sits on his couch all season. Revis is pretty mercenary, you'd probably have to offer significantly more than that to get him to sign. -

His agent flew in this afternoon, he won't be leaving town without a contract. -
Money is not an issue. They can always re do someones deal, give them more bonus money and stretch the money forward.

We have 35 mil in bonuses next year that can't be changed, well, they can't be lowered anyway, and we aren't making a SB run this year, so why put all the eggs in this years basket?
As it is, we'll probably have to cut Max(no dead money) just to sign rookies and what not next year. -
Why stop there? Why not draft only players who will be HoF caliber? Also, why not just snatch every great player off every other team?
Glad this got cleared up and now we can just win SBs.Redwine4all likes this. -
And actually, it wouldn't take much to get the Dolphins in a good cap position. For example, if Pouncey and Wake retire or get cut (which are good chances) the Dolphins would be $18 million under the cap. If Wake keeps playing they will be nearly $10 mil under the cap. If one of our young o-linemen break out and James is cut the Dolphins will be nearly $13 mil under the cap. And none of this is taking into account restructuring guys like RT, Suh, Maxwell. Speaking of Maxwell, if he is cut the Dolphins would be over $12 mil under the cap.Last edited: Aug 16, 2017 -
I am so sick and tired of hearing about Revis. The guy is one of the most selfish players I've ever seen. Don't you remember the guy would hold out of camp literally every other year demanding a new deal. As good as he was he clearly has not put any real effort into maintaining himself physically because he is not very old and should still be playing at a high level at this point and last year the guy was terrible. On top of that given the contract guarantee this year from the Jets, even if he was still playing well, would be untenable dollar wise.
Can we PLEASE stop talking about this guy! -
Right now, we have 60 players under contract next year(179mil) that cost more money than the 90 we have under contract right now(177mil).
Next years cap is an issue, no way around that, and they won't be rolling much, if anything from this year.dolphin25 likes this. -
As for replacing talent...what do you think the draft is for? Who do you think Harris is supposed to replace? Wake, that's who. Tank, McMillian etc are also here to replace "talent'...eventually and for less money. -

Seahawks have agreed to a one-year deal with CB Tramaine Brock, sources say. Team met with him in April, spent yesterday meeting again.
