#5 - Javonte Williams #4 - Najee Harris - concern about lack of speed and, for his size, power. Estimates 4.66-4.70 40. Najee chose not to run a 40 on his pro day. Mentions Najee was generally running with a lot of space at Alabama, not sure how he will fare in the NFL. Little evidence of those moments where there was no gap but he just blew through some guys for a gain. Says Najee is the first evaluation where he's not 100% sure about the eval. #3 - Javian Hawkins #2 - Michael Carter - "Surprise of the draft" #1 - Travis Etienne
I've also started taking a look at this guy's channel. Not sure where I stand on his takes yet. I will say he does the longest lists I've seen going through many, many prospects in summary form. Here are his RB rankings this year: He also list Carter highly, and lists Javian as a sleeper.
I hope Harris is the first RB to be drafted because my money's on Etienne to be the better of the two, and the best RB prospect in this draft class. Only question for me is if we wait to take a RB in the 2nd round will he still be there at #36? The Jests at #23 scare me, and it would be just our luck if I am right for him to end up in the division. All that said, I'm definitely more intrigued by Carter now and need to go do some research on him.
I'm about to do a thread on new players on my wish list. Check out Oklahoma RB R. Stevenson. He is 6'0 250 and reminds me in style of Marshawn Lynch. Quick feet, powerful, good vision. Runs hard.
Damn, that highlight real looks almost better then the J. Williams flick. Maybe there are more then 3 backs to like in this draft.
Definitely and Trey Sermon hasn’t even come up in the thread. I remember watching a couple Buckeye games and the dude looked flat out untackleable. Numbers back it up. He averaged 7.5 yards per carry! And he surprised everyone by his impressive athletic testing at his pro day. Definite option at 81 IMO.
Nah, man. IMO, he is nowhere near as good as Javonte. He has good size and he seems like he can be a solid back at times, but watch that video again. He always has huge lanes to run through. Oklahoma usually has a real solid OL. Though he is a big back, you don't see him laying the wood and running over defenders like Javonte does. I think Javonte is on a totally different level.
I noticed that he was getting caught from behind a good bit in that tape, so he's probably a high 4.7/low 4.8 speed. I personally love a back that runs over people though!
Yeah I think you nailed it on his approx 40 time. Good thing there though is speed is one of the easier aspects players can improve. He could really be amazing at 4.5 or even 4.6 at 250 pounds
Couldn't disagree more. And still no mention of two UNC RBSs being in the top 5? In the wrong order of course based on production at UNC. I don't look for running backs with "take it to the house speed." If they break one great, if he knows how to locate and hit holes without hesitation, if he can make that split second decision that there will be no hole, so dig your cleats in get low and bulldoze that soon to be 230 lb+ 6'2 frame. Najee will shed tackles like water off a ducks back once he gets to the next level, as big and powerful as most LBs. Good luck with DB's trying top stop this guy(thus limiting defensive formations such as nickel and dime packages, thus creating more openings for our WRs. It is not safe to use such schemes when there's a RB on the other side who can run half your defense over if you put the wrong package in, this becoming a pick your poison and a headache for every DC we face.) But yeah.. lets talk about 40 time. err
Yea dont care about what hes got to say.. najee is the guy to get.. period.. and the only other running back id be okay with at #18 is Etienne..
No to a running back in the first three rounds. Statistically he may be on the team for three years. Mix and match guys that can catch the ball out of the backfield all the way. Running back is a dead position for the most part.
I agree, he is a game changer. But, if Grier/Flo want Etienne, I think they're gonna have to reach a little to get him. Jests taking him at #23 is a real possibility. Personally, I'd have no problem taking him at #18. Positional and draft value be damned! He's a beast, and he would fundamentally change our entire offense! Pitts/Chase at #6 and Etienne at #18, then BPA with a focus on the trenches in the 2nd/3rd rounds.
Sqealers and Jests both have potential to go RB in that 20s area. That's why we need to be on the phone with Tennessee yesterday trying to trade down. We'd stay in front of the Jests and the Steelers pick up a/some pick(s.) & Najee > Etienne. https://titanswire.usatoday.com/202...rade-partner-with-dolphins-in-2021-nfl-draft/
I know many here may feel that way, but we will have to agree to disagree. As for a potential trade down from #18 to #22, I'm all for it as long as the draft capital makes sense.
